The 'Ford Squad Presents: 'Puesta Del Sol' - 12th JUNE
The 'Ford Squad Presents: "Puesta Del Sol" @ The Shrewsbury Arms, Eastgate Street, Stafford. ST16 2NG
12th JUNE - 7:30pm Onwards - £4 / 2.50 NUS
The 'Ford Squad follow 'A Green Party' with a return to The Shrewbury Arms for 'Puesta Del Sol'; bringing another eclectic mix of good top quality live music. The line-up this time includes: Bilge Pump, serious art-rockers with a knack for writing danceable tunes, described as a "boiling-over bastard concoction of all the best bits of The Jesus Lizard, Led Zeppelin, The Fall, Blue Cheer, Funkadelic and King Crimson". Bilge Pump are most definitely a band of underground cult heroes, signed to independent label Gringo Records (http://www.gringorecords.com) Bilge Pump have been around for a long time and were once dismissed by the NME as 'unlistenable guff'. What better recommendation to be had courtesy of a magazine guilty of the creating of the annual 'Cool' list. A little more palatable and appealing to the ladies will be Jelly's Last Jam hailing from the Northwest, who perform piano driven indie pop with great emotion and energy, polished and tight with a charismatic frontman. We will also have new local band Trash Love Affair playing their second gig in Stafford and third in all. Trash Love Affair play rock n roll with a dirty whisky bar vibe describing themselves as 'two parts stoopid, one part art', the band are still writing the songs that fit their agenda, but have a set to play live that tides over their desire to rock in the free world right now. Coming to join the party will also be the Flesh Eating Foundation these guys say that they "LURK SOMEWHERE IN THE DARK SPACES BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL, PUNK, METAL AND ELECTRONICA. SOMETIMES THEY ROCK, SOMETIMES THEY EXPERIMENT, SOMETIMES THEY BREAK STUFF". And, in massive contrast once again, as is the way with the 'ford squad nights, Andrew C Salt will strum us through some poetic melodies on his acoustic guitar. Separated from the HoneyMoon Fresh 'Salty' has many songs from which to choose and share with the audience. As well as all this we will have the Trent Vale Poet, Emily's Poetry and DJ Rich Powell spinning the tunes of his choosing to keep us musing.
