Stafford Song
This is to celebrate our past, present and future.
Stoke is not so bad, it's true,
Rugeley and Cannock are quite nice, too,
But beware, if you drive straight through,
You'll miss the Jewel in the Crown
Uttoxeter is pretty,
Lichfield's a cathedral city,
But all those towns just earn my pity,
'Cos they're not Staffordshire's county town
(Chorus)
I'm a Staffordian,
So I can tell you now,
The greatest town of all,
Is on the river Sow.
We've got pubs and clubs and shops and bars,
Lakes where people park their cars,
Tescos, Sainsburys and Asdas,
I love this crazy town.
We've got two junctions on the motorway,
The west coast mainline railway,
It's getting better everyday,
I love this crazy town.
(Chorus)
Doxey, North End, Castletown,
There's always so much going down,
Walton, Wildwood, Rising Brook,
If you don't believe me take a look,
Highfields, Littleworth, Creswell,
This little place is hot as hell.
(Chorus)
The Ancient House that is so high,
The Gatehouse shows make me laugh and cry,
The castle's way up in the sky,
I love this crazy town.
Viccy Park is nice as pie,
The Market Square is just nearby,
I'm ST16 'til I die,
I love this crazy town.
(Chorus)
When life tries to get me down,
I'm all alone, I wear a frown,
I know how to turn things round,
'Cos I've got the Jewel in the Crown.
(Chorus)
The Ford, The Borough,
There can be no other,
Sister, Brother,
I love this crazy town.

I am lost for words. I'm sitting here, atop my ivory tower overlooking The Borough, weeping with joy into my Ovaltine

Wow Fantastic, I'm not a Staffordian by birth but I do like the anthem, Probably been here longer than most people in primary school though, so if anyone has the power to make me an honourary Staffordian, I would be very proud. And do i get a badge?
Hopefully sofa will play it in Joxers tomorrow, or is it a rumour that sofa has joined st16's answer to the dubliners?
I'm an honorary Staffordian, I play the Accordion and flute

Re: Stafford Song
Absolute genius. Sofa deserves some kind of commendation. Not only was the Stafford Song superb, but the other 3 (2?...had a few shandies..) were also excellent! Not only did i have a great night there...i also had the pleasure of meeting 2 of the most recent Forumites; taitou and wookie. Both top chaps, and tvm to wookie for tending to my poorly 'puter..

Re: Stafford Song
I have alerted the Stafford Rangers Forumites to the link and the lyrics, groundswell of opinion that the chorus should be adopted for home games, and a recording played over the PA system prior to matches!
PS Boro' 1.0 up at Woking, at this rate we'll soon be safe from threat of relegation! C'mon Rangers!

I mentioned on Saturday what I remember of Cuffy, that it was a tv show in the 80's about a tramp, a bit like the gaffer. I got beat up 1st day of secondry school for calling a lad cuffy, coz he had dirty cuffs and was a bit of a pikey like. Here is a link to the 80's show if it is of interest to those who love or Hate Cuffy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/artic … 1950.shtml

rich, you little monkey - this is excellent! the sound quality is perfect, and i actually prefer the "live" feel of the wonky video rather than the static (albeit very nice) one of sofa's.. it also gives a great atmosphere when the camera swings round and you can see the troops singing along
also, i thought sofa went out of tune a bit when listening to the original video, but it must have just been the audio distortion cos he sounds spot on on this one.. if anyone is linking the video to friends/family it should defo be this one imo ![]()
