Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

Hi my name is Eddie

I've organised a FANTASTIC charity match to be held at SRFC in April 2010, not only will it be a mega high profile match with ex-pro's from the 80's, 90,s and 00,s playing and attending BUT also there will be an evening memorabilia auction with live music, comedian and celebrity guest speakers.

If anyone can offer any help on how to post links on here I'd appreciate it ! I've got some PDF files I'd like people to see about the event but don't know how to show them on here ???

So rather than try to cram all that is going to happen on the day in this my first post I thought I'd start the ball rolling with a question and answer theme ?

Please feel free to comment on what I believe will be THE event that will help really kick start the revitalisation and resurgence of the tremendous club STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

I will endeavour to keep this post up to date with any breaking news about new celebs / players who agree to help us / appear as it happens. Currently we have . . . .

Chris Brindley, Paul Ware, Cyrille Regis, Neil Cutler, Mel Eves, Ian Wright, John Purdie, Phil Heath, Graham Shaw, Don Goodman, Phil Robinson, Darren Simkin and many more in the pipeline including hopefully Stan Collymore ???

We have also invited a few celebrity "fans" the identities of whom I've got to reserve untill they confirm.

SO FOR NOW PUT 25/04/2010 in your diary

It is the day after Rangers last match of the season and neither Wolves or Stoke are playing so let's get that stadium FULL ! I want 2500 to 3000 people in there which will be legendry !

Thanks for looking and any help you can offer

Cheers :-)

Hi Eddie - welcome to the forum!

If you would like to post a link on here you use the syntax as follows:

[url=www.your-website-address.com/document1.pdf ]text to appear in the link [/URL ]  removing the spaces before the ]'s

this gives something like this:

text to appear in the link

Hi J4KEddie.

You shouldn't need to do anything special to post links; just paste the URL (which is the address of your file, that starts with http://) into your post and The Forum should automatically hyperlink it.

If it doesn't, however, this might be because there are spaces or other special characters in the URL.  If this is the case, simply put [url] at the start of your link and [/url] at the end, like so:

Code:

[url]http://www.example.com/thisisthelink/example.htm[/url]

That all sounds wonderful if only I knew what a URL was ??? my files are PDF and I'd rather not have anyone accessing my computer to look at them ???

I did think I could manage to upload them to photobucket as I have minutes of experience on that site however it won't let me upload them as they are not pictures ???

Sorry to sound dim but any other help will be gratefully accepted once translated into english ???

ah, right - you mean the files are on your computer, so you can't actually link to them cos they're not on the web anywhere!  now i see your predicament..

i've never used this site before, but i just googled "pdf host" and found this:

http://pdfhost.net

see if you can use that to upload your PDFs and then post the links here smile

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

I know I'm new here but what was it you get - points for again ???

big_smile

Seriously though even if you are not a Stafford Rangers, Stoke City or Wolves fan this is a massive charity event for naccpo who help the families of children suffering with cancer so all the positive help and support is welcomed and the p*** taking graciously accepted . . . . as long as you tell everyone else to come and have a look as well !

Cheers for your time and if you have any more spare check out http://www.naccpo.org.uk or have a skim through the attached link posted earlier in the thread about the event as we need support from 3,000 people on the day.

. . . . . . OK 1 down 2,999 to go !

Cheers rofl

Point are awarded by memebers if they like or dislike a post.  You'll see a Skill / Cuffy link at the bottom right of the posts and you simply click on them to award of subtract a point.  The points beside your posts are cumulative from the point at which you registered on the forum.

I would just like to wish you the best of luck in getting this organised Eddie, it's a very noble cause and you certainly have high aspirations for the event.

One very important question, possibly a deal breaker - will Dave's Diner be there on the day? badteeth

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

Absolutely, in fact Dave is one of the key helpers in getting us promoted through the various contacts he has in the radio and newspaper world and has as some will be aware been announcing the event at each home match over the PA at half time etc ! A general good bloke !

Regards aspirations . . . . yes you are right it is a very big ask but that is what this and many other threads are about on all the forums of quality I can get on ! more exposure . . . bigger the crowd !

I was told last year in MAY that I was starting to early and 3000 in SRFC was an impossibility !

Well we are rapidly running out of organising time for all the activities we have planned (see the link) but WILL be ready and WE MUST fill the ground for 5 reasons

1. It will contribute 70% of the hoped funds that we are aiming to raise, ie £10,000+ of the 15,000+ we are aiming for on the day. thumb_up

even at £5 / head adults and only £3 kids under 16 (£14 family ticket 2 adults and up to 4 kids)

2. It will be absolutely legendry and an unforgetable event with a full house. thumb_up

3. The calibre of players and guests we are getting to appear deserve it. thumb_up

4. It will really kick start the revitalisation of Stafford Rangers FC as a force to be reconed with for next season and promote the club as a desirable venue for similar events in the future. stafford thumb_up

5. BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE THINK WE CAN'T !!!!! emot-argh

Come on everyone get ye behind me and for whatever reason you like lets fill the place come April ???

help emot-raise thumb_up

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

I'll be there.

Met Eddie in a meeting a few weeks back, very big aspirations and I hope that people will support him in his efforts to bring in such a large gate for the charity.

Few things:
Have you posted about it on the Wolves/Stoke forums?
Also have you managed to sign up to my srfc forum yet? (As I know you had troubles trying to because of an existing account)
Have you got a final poster yet to be put up? And are they up around Marston Road?
Does anyone at Stafford Rangers have tickets? Such as behind the bar or in the commercial office.

Good luck

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

Cheers Liam,

All good points . . . . .

1. In process of getting involved with people at the oatcake and the equivilent Wolves version ASAP in new year but anyone already on there wants to send me a link or other thread I can tack on to for now that will be great !
2. Still struggling with "re-entry" to srfc site ? can you help ???
3. Final official poster will be ready for printing etc in A3, A4 and A5 for general distribution around town etc by mid Jan, just redesigning the logo for the old boys team so as to not infringe on copyright of official logo's as casual use is frounded upon but mass production of 5000 leaflets etc would be pushing it and Stoke have been brilliant so we don't want to upset them really.
4. Tickets are available from me currently but we will furnish the club with some in Jan at our next organisers meeting which I hope you can attend ?

Cheers for now and have a great Christmas break !

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all !!!!

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

At last we are getting close to having our charity match website running ! hopefully by the end of the week !

Can it be placed as a "temporary-sticky" just untill after the event, for all to view at any time as when it is up and running tickets will be able to be purchased on line !

It is also going to be linked to the SRFC, Stoke City, Wolves and NACCPO websites

Let me know and I'll get the address ASAP !!!

Cheers  smile

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

I've advertised this as an event on a group on Facebook. The group is called Stoke City FC - a proper Premiership club. Hope this helps.  I've sent invites to all my City and Wolves mates. I however will not be there as I am due to be running the London Marathon on that day for Children with Leukaemia.

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

Fantastic work, thanks very much, good luck in the marathon.

Anyone who has interest in this event can NOW buy tickets online at

www.srfccharitymatch.co.uk

Currently this is an info page with live links to the Naccpo charity webpage

www.naccpo.org.uk

and also to SRFC unofficial chat forum site along, soon to be added with some info pages about the event as it developes and possible players etc.

HOWEVER ! Please don't just look and forget, please look again as in the next few days our promo video which will hopefully soon be on u-tube and facebook etc can be viewed there as a taster. If I say so myself it is brilliant ! Should be viewable by Thursday !!!

I'll keep you all informed

Tell everyone to keep looking !

Cheers smile

Re: Charity Match to herald the revitalisation of STAFFORD RANGERS FC !

You can pay on the day BUT pre bought tickets are definitely adviseable and much prefered as, for the charities sake if it p****s down on the day they will still be ok to pay all the considerable overheads that this monster event is accumilating just in case nobody or only a few turn out to watch ! oh_meh

In the next few days the video should be embedded onto the website but for now it is viewable on You-tube by searching for either NACCPO or Stoke v Wolves charity match or on Vimeo by just clicking

HERE

It is a mega high quality film and if it buffers slow please bear with it ! It is well worth the wait ! My advise is if it loads slow turn the volume down and minimise then come back a few mins later, turn the volume up high and enjoy !

Quicker loading You-tube link is THIS

reminder of web address is

www.srfccharitymatch.co.uk stafford

I'm on Hols NOW so won't be able to post untill about the 24th please try to keep this thread and any others relating to it up top as best as pos and spread the word by watching the video and clicking share etc etc etc

Thanks and see you all soon ! banana
