I was reading a remark on the forum posted a few years ago... about a Mrs Emery who was strangled out side a pub in the 60's, by a RAF man. I am looking at my ancestry and think this woman was a distant relative ... does anyone know her first name? Does anyone know the date of this incident?

Thanks young to rock...I had heard that there is a connection with the county road funeral directors and tek-monkey and that crazy rat lady ... sounds like the kings head would have been down the end of the county road where al-sheiks is.... is that near the church yard where the lady was found? How big is stafford? I have never been there... Any one know what would have been the local newspaper at the time (late fifties/early sixties?) Perhaps I can find something in the archives or obits... if I had a clearer date or her first name ....

P.S. The rat looks cool.

Hi Bonny,

A good place to look is in the copies of Staffordshire Advertiser. They used to be kept bound up at Holmcroft Library however that was some years ago so probably in the main library in town now.

Regarding the Kings Head. Wasn't the pub owned by the Rostenburg family back in around 1986? I worked at Halfords when it first opened on Foregate St in their ownership.

MD Thanks for that info re Staffordshire Advertiser...and for the info re Kings head. I have found a pub that closed in the 60's called King Edward V11. It was on Gaolgate Street. Which one do you think it is the more likely to be?

Call me Ishmael, but i'm guessing that the 'Bonny situation' is, that she ain't goin' to be gettin' near the Holmcroft library any time soon.

Know what i'm sayin'? (sort of thing)

Would you like opening times for the Holmcroft library?

Are Fridays good for you?

Or maybe, given that you evidently don't live in Stafford, a point evidently missed by the above respondent, and are merely asking about events that happened here some many moons ago, from a personally interested kind of point of whatever, who may be what of unwell?

Babooshka ya ya.

Glad to be of help. :)

Plus - are we not all drifting into the arena of the unwell?

I apologise to all for my obviously inaccurate though tried to be helpful response. I am obviously in the unwell catagory and will bow out and get a 'sick note'. Good luck Bonny with your search for help and advice...
