Plough, Woodseaves

I think it's been closed for a while - it looked closed the last time I went that way. I used to frequent it in the 80s. I think the licencees were ladies, if I remember correctly. There was a 'country solicitor'-type who used to sit in the corner and take the piss out of people with great elegance.

It had a Food Safety Inspection in October last year. Not a glowing report, though. http://www.ratemyplace.org.uk/inspections/the-plough-inn-woodseaves-staffordshire

I really liked it in the old days, and they genuinely seemed not to mind us going there..

Darts 22* may have something to say about this when he passes through.

Before that, when that area of the village was known as the nook

Ah, before my time. Talking of Ploughs, I know that in Stafford there was one in Browning Street, but do you know anything about a Plough in Rickerscote?

This document contains the entry - Documents of title relating to The Plough Inn, Rickerscote Road, Stafford, 1802-1933 (6704) - on the ninth page in 'Title Deeds'.

Thanks for that information. Really must get into the Records Office, I've got a pile of stuff to look up.

I gather that the new owners of the Cock are the same people who have the Crown at Hyde Lea

What a fookin miserable place

Popped in for a pint last week

Place stank of Dettol

The whiskey bottles are protected by chicken wire

The locals turn there back on you as you walk in ( OK OK I would too if I saw me )

Woodseaves - twinned with Alabama

Strangely, we used to frequent the Plough at Woodseaves in the early '80s, and found it a great place, sad to see it in demise now..

..still, I suppose that that is thirty years ago now..
