Just thought I'd let everyone know I'm still alive and well, my absence has been noted in certain quarters and I will be endeavouring to pop on a bit more often....But not this weekend...This weekend I will be dressed as a pirate and hitting people with rubber swords.

I learnt a good synonym of pirate the other day - Picaroon - as in "This weekend I will be dressed as a picaroon..."

I was going to let that go by - but now I have to admit that I could only think of Cap'n Picard being marooned on an island in Picardy, with only a supply of picaresque macaroons to provide a break from his diet of raccoons and piccalilli.
