Planning and traffic in Stafford.... terrible?

If you zoom in you can see his pole. Btw the geezer in the car appears to be going the wrong way around the roundysquareabout with his door open - is he planning to bale out before the inevitable crash?
His number plate's not legal if it's here - and there's two earth wires on the pylon, which again implies it's somewhere overseas..

http://news.sky.com/story/1015179/china-road-built-around-couples-home[/ It belongs to a Chinese couple who refused to move, I wonder if their local garden centre will sponsor and plant their garden, DIY store their house with free pizza delivery all in exchange for some advertising.
Rather like our own farm 'in' the M62..

Is it just me, or is there a tunnel under the westbound carriageway that never reappears?
On the Google Maps view? The drainage culvert? There is a, just visible, entrance to it slightly East of due South, in the ditch along the southern base of the embankment..

I could have sworn that that was something very similar on the M6 as it goes through the Lakes/into Scotland. However a scour of Gmaps failed to bring anything up so it would seem that I have dreamt it :(
I know where you mean but can't find it either - there aren't any buildings in between from what i remember, but there is quite a gap between the two carriageways.

Edit: found it.

I remember someone beeping at my mum once for daring to let a car out onto Weston road when traffic was at a crawl (i.e. every day at rush hour), she smiled and waved back at them then refused to move til everyone it that side street was out too. Guy looked so furious I thought he was going to have a heart attack :)

Brilliant, that would be pretty much my reaction too.

I stopped on a green light on the Sandon rd junction with Beaconside to let a fire engine go through the lights - it was like an orchestra the sound of the car horns behind me! I'm sure not one of them could see the blue lifhts or hear the the sirens - speechless!!

So most of the time is it not the poor standard of driving that is to blame for our mystery on the roads, not the planning or the design?

The standard of driving does seem to vary a bit throughout the day - I make a real effort to avoid the 'home run'..

Yesterday I was behind a police car as I turned right at the traffic lights from Rickerscote Lane onto the Wolverhampton Road and the police car stopped at the pedestrian lights just before Churchill Way to let a pedestrian cross as the traffic lights were on red but the pedestrian signs appeared to show "don't cross"! I turn right at this junction often and have never had to stop before so have the signals changed?? Saw someone else do the same thing today but they were hooted on by other gesticulating drivers.... Confused...

that has been going on for years. When I lived around there it boiled down to the drivers misunderstanding of the lights (not sure why), which are facing the traffic coming from the M6 junc 13 direction It sounds very familar to this, if so it is poor driving.
Drivers truning right onto the Wolverhampton Rd would see those lights on red and stop. Odd

Same thing often happens at the Prospect Road/Corporation Street/Crooked Bridge Road lights - the lights are so far round the corner when turning left that it can seem like one has approached a distinct crossing..

This has got me thinking ! So if you turn right from Rickerscote Lane onto the Wolverhampton Road you effectively drive through the red traffic light on the Wolverhampton Road at the corner of Churchill Way. I hope the crossing is programmed so that it stays on "don't cross" when the traffic is turning right otherwise there will be a serious accident one day. I think it's another badly planned junction.
