next time must remember to wait an hour after giving said child allergy medicine and so avoid wasting a&e staffs time :(
Just to make it clear, the staff at the hospital did NOT say the above, I felt like we had wasted their time....but they wouldn't let us leave till she was examined by the doctor.

Its always the same, stuck between a rock and a hard place with a&e, are you wasting their time or not...last summer child fell over in the garden, thought she was just making a big deal over nothing, when husband came home he decided she might of broken her arm and off we went to a&e.

She had broken her arm, but because I didn't want to waste the hospitals time I had let her sit there for 6 hours thinking she was putting it on, till husband got home :( Bad mother!

Not sure whether that's down to the efficiency of the system or just that people would rather have the morning / afternoon / day off work to visit the hospital than take advantage of the worker friendly out of hours system.
I took someone to a most civilised Saturday clinic at New Cross once. A few months later, we went again to a standard weekday one with the same chap, just a repeat of the first, but it was total chaos and took for ever. It was implied in a Private Eye article some months ago that some of these 'out-of-hours' clinics are effectively the same doctors working privately for the NHS to clear their own backlog. It certainly was a much better experience, though..

I have had a headache for 9 hours now, and no amount of prescription medication will shift it :(

Took eldest to new cross a&e suspecting a dislocated shoulder, it was about 9:30pm and the walkin gp's was closed. Her pain was so intense you couldn't touch it. Trundled off saw triage, dr, x-ray then dr to be told it was soft tissue damage, again. Few weeks later got a snotty letter from my gp informing me they could have dealt with the problem and i had wasted a&e's time. Considering it was when they were closed and she was in too much pain to wait and the a&e dr wanted x-rays i was neither impressed by the letter or convinced they could of helped without us still having to trek up to x-ray.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

After the hassle we had with tek-chimp, waiting for the one on call doctor in the county to make his way to stafford to see her while we sat outside at gone midnight, I will always call the ambulance in future.

As a parent your duty is to do what you think is in the best interest of your children, within reason, not what is most convenient for the NHS.

My son is saving for a car so he asked me to find out about insurance costs.

Went to a local insurance broker to ask for a guide figure (not an actual quote) so my son has an idea about how much needs to save and was told it will be about £4000 to insure a car worth about £1000 when he has passed his test.

I took the wife to work this morning, and then went home and had my breakfast.
Coffee with a dash of brandy, and toast with cheese, if any ones interested.

I do hope that she's truly grateful for all your beyond-the-call-of-duty efforts. You must be really exhausted now..

Try ingenie.com my son (18) and most of his friends use this as its the only way they can afford to drive.

The company fit a black box which sends them all sorts if details about their driving and its reviewed every few months so their premiums can go down if they drive well.

I think sons original quotes offa-tinternet were between 4000 & 6000. Ingenie did it for just over 2500, but 6 Months in and its now reduced to about 170 a month :)
