Apparently its Edwards chic that's opening the gaff...
I take it you mean the Countless of TheonlywayisWessex?

I can't find any excuse to egg her. Apart perhaps from being the Countess of a ludicrous fictional construct, which is hardly an egging offence.

For the record, i was 'up' (as 'twere) with the chap who egged Major, he was on my Attorney's politics course. :)

Oh and the scaffold will return next week.... That's if it ain't come down yet.

So how much for that then???

I feel so sorry for Sophie, she's been sat crying by the phone waiting for that call for nearly two years! Now she gets the privilege of opening what has all the charm of a multi-storey carpark.

I saw that Diana, People's Princess of Hearts, once.

I was just passing,
not intending
to be there at all.

Then there she was,
There on the stair
At the Guildhall.

She was tall.
That's all
I remember.

i pray nothing falls off the facade anytime soon, say the next 25 years ...atleast!?

I agree from a distance it doesn't look that bad.
Until you get close and look at the rain-screen cladding system. The detail work and the corner junctions look like they have been put together by a three year old.
Joints miss matched and out of vertical alignment and corner mitres all over the place, in what should be a highly engineered stone façade system.
Will be nice to see the units on the ground floor in use.

I see SCC have put a load of banners with pretty pictures in the windows of the shop units just so the visiting Royal won't see that they are all empty. More money wasted on Faulty Towers.*

*Yes I know it's not much in the big scheme of things but I can still moan about it.

I honestly don't think it will stand up to the test of time, if you look closely as others have pointed out it already has bits missing, bits not quite on straight, finishing strips around the windows askew etc. & it is only a couple of years old. It was seemingly thrown together by a bunch of amateurs. The previous Labour administration before 2009 commissioned the build (if there is one thing that Labour are World class at it is spending other people's money) the Tories got in and admitted that they didn't really want to proceed but said that they had to because the get out clauses were too hefty to do a U-turn. This mess up from the start all added up to total chaos throughout and on a very serious note shoddy workman ship that could very well have killed someone. There is nothing to be proud about with any of this.

I had a quick glance at it from Tipping Street and there are, indeed, a good few detail problems evident to the most cursory of perusals.

They were using the car park to hide the access equipment from Scaffoldshire Place to avoid marring the royal visit...
Did anyone get a glimpse of her? Was working today so was unable to make it - probably would have had, if i could have had, just to see if she is unusually tall.

I've got a feeling that the scaffolding hasn't gone because the works are finished, but for todays visit. I'm sure it'll be back in place lickety split. What would Staffordshire Place be without it?

Various heights are quoted from 165 to 170 cm.
If she had been standing next to unusually small man, she may have given the illusion of unusual height, as well as Royal Majesty. This kind of thing can only truly be appreciated at first hand.

The visit is the only reason why the scaffolding has been taken down. It'll be back soon.

Enjoying a drop of red.
And the cost of removing the scaffolding and then putting it back will be? And who will pay for it?

Never mind, it's only money raised from our taxes, not like real money...

Get that freedom of information request in....!

The cost of all the Rozzers crawling about the place couldn't have been insignificant.

All of the royals are a complete waste of time and money. If it was necessary to have someone unveil a plaque, surely someone from Staffordshire who has actually contributed to society could have been nominated.
