That's Alfie - pathologically cheerful - but, take a close look before you slap him, he's built like a scale model of a reinforced concrete lavatory block...

..and he's not the fastest, has a tendency to go at your speed, I find..

Yeah, Alfie's a good chap. He likes to chat to anyone and everyone....and usually does. Put it this way, I wouldn't want to arm wrestle him.

UK supermarkets could learn a lot from Wal Mart in the USA, there the carrier bags are on a carousel which the check out operator places your purchases after scanning, you then pay and pick up your full bag or bags. I'm surprised that ASDA aka Wal Mart hasn't introduced this method already??

i have carrier bags opened and ready for customers to fill.if theres loads of shopping or frail and disabled i will of course pack the shopping for them, to the rude customers who throw the money at me and dont even say please or thank you..pack it yourself.

In the days of Kwik Save there was an incentive scheme to scan and pack quickly. I once asked a Lidl counter lady to slow down for me and she told me she couldn't. I assume they operate the same system as Kwik Save. probably got a star chart in the back.

My partner and I operate our weekly shop with military precision!
On the conveyor belt, in order-
-Bottles
-Cans and jars These provide a good sturdy base for all the other bits..
-Stuff for the freezer
-Vegetables (these both have their own bags)
-Other groceries
-Bread
-Crisps and eggs and other fragile stuff can then go on top

Take about 3 or 4 big bags, set them up in the trolley at the end and designate the bags for Frozen and Veg, and off you go! It's all put down to you in order and it makes it a lot easier to pack it all, and also unpack it when you get home :D

I am one of those mean people who say 'no' when the scouts/local football team are there raising money for their latest project...I HAVE A SYSTEM DAMMIT! Here's 20p to go and hassle someone else!

I also work part-time in a shop and always try to pack the bags nicely, the way I want them done. A well packed bag is very satisfying to me (ok I am a bit sad.)
