Where to stay for a short break getaway near Staffordshire

Enjoying a drop of red.
That was landed by Capt. Tadeusz Wrona - hence the amusing line -Fly like an eagle, land like a crow - well, it's funny if you're Polish...

Well just think, if he'd not been to Liverpool, there'd be one thing less for the Polish to find funny.

Best go by train, if you value your wheels!

Did think of that .. Might catch the train, the hotel's next door to a station.........

Had that happen to me many years ago somewhere Eccleshall way. Came out of the pub to find my car on housebricks, luckily came out in time while the tyres were still on. Probably a prank , but had to go back inside the pub to get some big strong farmers :heyhey: to lift it off the bricks for me.

Easy to get to Chipping Camden. Attic room at The Kings and a cellar table at Caminettos = perfect Saturday afternoon/ night.
Stop off at Broadway on Sunday for a mooch.

Ta Trumpet :) - I think you've found me the perfect place for our next break away (If the car's still intact ;) )

If going with the Caminettos option I'd recommend planning about a month ahead to get a table on a Saturday and thoroughly recommend the veal kidneys for non vegetableists.

Just heard back from Porterhouse in Shrewsbury. Too late for this time, but sound nice so will be visiting there sometime in the future.

Looks like lots of mini hols coming up :)

on the back of this thread, a friend of mine has asked for reccommendations where him and his wife can go away for a night of luxury in a 4-5* hotel within say an hours drive of Stafford, i've racked my brains, they don't want the moat, something a little more further out, but within an hour or so

How about Mal Maision in the Mail Box in Brum, best avoid sat&fri nights though........
