New manager started Monday, been in twice so far. That stale beer smell I haven't smelled for years in the main bar last night.
Mrs Trumpet been in for lunch today, sandwhiches now on cheap nasty bread, no fires lit and freezing cold.
Not a good start!
Really hope our fave watering hole isn't going to the dogs.

Menu has changed, mussels have gone as has the chicken breast stuffed with spinach and the lemon & pepper chicken breast. Mussels and stuffed chicken were best items on the menu IMHO.
Mind you, they've now got 'Hunters Chicken'. Brake Bros anyone?
Beer is still good as ever though and they had a good fire on Saturday evening.

Thanks for the update

It is always sad when a 'banker' pub changes - the last landlady put a lot of effort into the kitchen

Well, we've given it a go. Fish was lovely although a smaller piece than before, chips were dry. Mrs T's pie got an OK rating. Probs wont be eating here again until next change of menu / management.
Beer's still good though.

I've not been since they changed management, very sad to hear it's gone down hill!

Well I'm not sure if the rumours are right but apparently the Bank house inn is opening Monday 17th with 2 blokes from the Royal Oak?

Bankhouse in Hixon.....

Mrs T went to The Oak yesterday for lunch with two friends one of whom ordered the fishcakes (plural) for starter. When it came there was one very small fishcake on the plate.
Upon pointing out the plural on the menu and singular on the plate it was met with response "Does it?" "Oh" and a shrug of the shoulders.
Not the best customer service in Eccy at the moment.
Before anyone suggests that she should have taken it up with the manager, that was the manager!
Sadly it looks as though both Mrs T's business and girly lunches will be taken to another venue in the future.
