Spotted: Terrible parking examples in & around Stafford

We all know what the real problem is with parking spaces.

They just aren't wide enough for modern cars. Cars have grown wider, spaces have not.

Wider and longer spaces would help but it still wouldn't stop really inconsiderate people taking up more space than they actually need.

Or they could switch to angled spaces. Went I went to Florida a few years ago, most car park bays were angled and it seemed to make it so much easier to park and to get in and out of the car. They were of course, a lot bigger than our spaces but the cars are a lot bigger over there.

They have such parking at the BP on the A34 where it meets the A500 and it works really well, I do agree it should be taken up here much more.

I think you're on to something!! We hired a Hyundai i30 last week to go camping, not a big car by any means, and I was convinced all the car parking spaces in Wales had been shrunk. I could barely get in between the white lines without touching one or other of them, and given it was a rental car was paranoid some inconsiderate arse would slam their opening door into the side of ours. They didn't, surprisingly, but such small spaces don't make parking a pleasant experience! God knows how bad drivers get on :/

Telford, the former Asda at the shopping centre has had angled parking for some years now, its the future.

Yes I've been there a few times. It's a very easy place to park.

Angled parking means one (maybe two) less spaces at the end of each row, am I right, the planners wouldn't like that, they prefer big amounts over small.

Anyway, it's not difficult, just ruddy' park straight and if you can't park straight, then house arrest for 12 months, there I said it!

Parallel parking, I am excellent, straight in parking, possibly the worst, I fully expect my car to show up on a photo here soon.

I cannot parallel park to save my life, time I've finished you still need a taxi to reach the curb.

There is an unmarked angled parking convention at the front of the Hospice Warehouse by the Tip - I've still see one car occupy three spaces, though...

I think it may come down to necessity. If you live in Peel/Victoria/Albert Terrace, you learn to Parallel park.

You do round by Castletown duck. I will drive round n round to find a decent spot, there is no way on this earth I will ever attempt to parallel park tho. Funny, because I know I am brilliant at reversing. We aren't helped round here tho, there was a knobhead outside my sons new place yesterday, took up 2 spaces. Parking plod didn't give him so much as a ticket tho.

My driving instructor once told me I was a better driver reversing and parking than I was going forwards. Still to this day I have no idea if that was a compliment or a dig!

When I was learning to drive I used to visit my grandparents a lot who lived on Railway Street. As such, I did become very good at parallel parking.
