Accident on Beaconside 15.09.14

Around 0850 this morning.

It appears that a car and a motorcycle have collided at the Tollgate Industrial Estate junction.

Probably best to avoid that area as cars approaching from J14 are being turned back.

The Tollgate junction is lethal - I only ever turn left - in, or out. Why the traffic lights were installed on the next, far less busy, junction will always be a mystery, especially now that the ambulances are based in Tollgate...

When that junction was built traffic levels were much lower. Parkside junctions are just as bad and with all this development going on it's only going to get worse

It's pretty obvious that Beaconside from Weston Rd to M6 J14 will be permanently gridlocked in daylight hours if/when these houses are built. All the junctions will be solid and no-one will be able to get out of the estates unless they walk. Nice work, planners.

I don't find the railway line gridlocked on my cycle to and from Tollgate Ind Est / Eccleshall Rd; maybe if those types who drive from Parkside/Sandon Road to work on the Ind Estate walked or cycled gridlock would be reduced. I work with numerous people who drive this short distance yet complain about the traffic without seeming to understand the irony of doing such!

I can understand that it is an extra-urban road, but the speed limit needs to be 40 not 50.
It needs to be 60, not 50. 50 is too slow and people regularly chunter along at under 40.

Some people need to drive better or hang up the keys. The rest of us shouldn't be punished with even longer journey times because a small minority are incompetent drivers.

It should be national speed limit but unfortunately it is proposed to become 30mph limit following capacity improvements aka Beaconside urban boulevard

Once all of the construction work is completed then I think that 30mph at most times of day will be an aspiration as opposed to a limit.

There are too many junctions for it to be 60.

I've worked at the tech park for 10 years now and at least 3 or 4 people I work with have been involved in accidents around the Beaconside area. Not their fault either.

There's a pavement along Beaconside and in the event of someone losing control there's a chance of the car mounting the pavement and hitting someone. Now if they want to fit railings along there then fine, but I see Beaconside as comparable to the A34 and that's now 50 on the outskirts of Stafford and 40 once you get near Wildwood.

All main Roads through stafford should be 40 cars have become much safer since the 30 limit was introduced. Hgv's are getting a speed increase soon from 40 to 50 on single carriageways as they are now safer than 40 years ago

They really really shouldn't I know it will be a shock to you but there are other living things to consider in this world apart from selfish car driver; like pedestrians and cyclists. Getting hit by a car doing 40 mph has significantly more negative affect on a human body than at 30mph.

Ever tried crossing the Eccleshall Road with a toddler and a dog at the speed the cars already travel despite the 30mph limit? No, thought not..........

You sound like someone who only ever drives everywhere and thinks that the only people in society that matter are car drivers. :(

You sound like someone who should use a crossing. Or should have considered crossing roads before getting a dog or child.

Always someone else's fault, eh?

It's only someone else's fault when they are going much much faster than the speed limit allows, making crossing the road significantly harder than it is when cars adhere to the limit.

There isn't a crossing on the Eccleshall Road within 400m's of where I have to cross, hence I have to run the gauntlet of speeding cars on a daily basis. The crossing, the toddler and the dog are not the issue - it's the high speed of selfish motorists that is th big problem.

... cars have become much safer since the 30 limit was introduced.
Cars maybe, have the people who drive them?

What about the people who are not inside these much safer cars - have humans evolved some sort of armour-plated skin while i wasn't looking?

wing mirrors are designed to detach when they hit a pedestrian also front end of cars have been redesigned to minimize the damage to pedestrians when hit. and just beginning to enter the market is autonomous emergency breaking. which automatically stop the car if contact is about to be made.cars are safer to those inside and outside than 20 years ago fact

Yes and innocent pedestrians continue to murdered by people driving cars everyday. Increasing the speed limit will make this worse, despite safety improvements in cars...............
