Stafford's town centre parking enforcement policy

There were plans to introduce pay on exit on our car parks, that's why many car parking signs display 'spaces' as they were to be linked, but the scheme fell through.
Ah thank you, are you able to say why it fell through ?

They realised that with pay on exit people would only pay for the time they were actually parked, whereas with pay and display people would tend to pay for more time than they needed "just in case".

Plus none if those lovely fines for those who overstay by 30 seconds, and it creates jobs for parking nazis which must be a good thing.

SBC also revealed that in 2013 Tithe Barn Rd notched up 70 PCNs just for parking by dropped kerbs, and by December the rate was more than one per day.

I notice the jan-nov request became jan-oct. I work with figures, and jan-oct could be anything from 01 jan - 31 oct to 31 jan to 01 oct. I'd like to assume they mean whole months, but then I like people to assume that too....

Enjoying a drop of red.
So jan to oct 1000 people got a ticket on mill street, thats 3 a day. Does that not seem a little high? There is even a new clock, can't they read it?
At a guess, I would say that the majority of parking crime committed in Mill Street would be cars inadvertently parking in the unmarked disabled spaces there. You need to give the parking signs more than a cursory glance in order to fathom out where you can or can't park without a disabled badge.

I parked in Sainsbury's today and got back to my car 7 minutes before the ticket was due to expire - good job I was early as the parking attendant was hanging around my car ready to write a ticket!

I've had two tickets in the last 12-15 months.

One on Eastgate Street when I was back 10 minutes late due to being in the bank longer than anticipated and forgetting I had parked in a short time space. The second was at Sainsburys when I completely forgot to buy a ticket as I usually shop in Tesco where parking is free.

So both my fault and bloody annoying because it was my fault.

Pay on exit won't come back into Stafford. I remember it being in the old Tesco and it was got rid of because it used to cause big queues to get out.

Stafford was considering removing short stay places as a way of reducing traffic congestion and 'encouraging' greater use of public transport Ect. Not sure if this actually happened, I tend to use the same car parks and these are still open.

It's not free on Tesco or Asda unless you actually shop there.

When I last read the signs it was only free if you shopped there.
