New McDonalds/Drive thru planned for the Hough Retail Park - not happy

Stafford is generally at a stand still, yet SCC Highways never have any objections? Seems they never do, whether it be a fast food outlet or a housing development. (Oh sorry, they did object to a zebra crossing on Baswich Lane)

The highways authority can only object to a scheme if the impact of the development will be 'significant' and cannot be mitigated.

I do agree, however, that at times Stafford is becoming gridlocked. I consider this to be down to two principal reasons; SCC's obsession with traffic lights. There are far too many and I don't think many are synced correctly. Secondly, the motorist. I am increasingly finding Stafford gridlocked because of the actions of inconsiderate motorist blocking junctions / yellow boxes and jumping red lights. This is resulting in traffic coming to a standstill because often the exits are blocked and the traffic can't leave the area.

I would personally like to see more yellow boxes introduced around Stafford and cameras placed on them to stop inconsiderate motorists blocking junctions and creating unnecessary traffic jams.

Perfect post. Sorry as someone from out of the area but alot of drivers from stafford of the most inconsiderate, some would rather advance 5 yards blocking entrances and exits, worse place is the dual carriageway opposite asda where some think it would be better sit in the middle of the island jumping a red light to block 2 to 3 lanes of oncominh traffic who don't get to move at all.

Stafford is not special when it comes to inconsiderate drivers. It's the same everywhere.

Agreed but stafford is worse in my recent experiences. More box hatches would be great but if one outside the cinema is anything to go by stafford drivers need educating on the highway. Inconsiderate arses all of em

You seem to have a 'thing' against Stafford and Stafford drivers. I've driven round many major cities and everywhere is the same with regards to yellow boxes.

I'd say Stafford is no different from other areas, if Gareth has a dislike to Stafford and Stafford drivers, don't come here sorted.

In Gareths defence, Stafford is pretty bad. Stand by cafe nero at 5pm and you will see. Not saying its worse or better than any where else but its pretty bad.

Well its not looking good...we've had an email from the Councillor who has been told by the planning department that they plan to recommend the McDonalds development and that they need to be informed by Friday should they want it to be taken to the Planning Committee (Councillor doesn't believe there's much of a reason that they would reject it now....)

They recommend they build a McDonalds but a mere meters down the road they recommend against the building of a new sports facility (Hockey pitches).

I saw that, and views the objection from Sport England about the new hockey pitch....quite unbelievable really

Why did Sport England object? They only tend to object to schemes if it would involve the loss of sports pitches / facility. However, it is my understanding that the application was seeking to increase the number of sports pitches, therefore, I would have expected their support.
