Voting UKIP doesn't make someone a Bigot, I'm voting because I want us to leave the EU, I have no problem with a multicultural society, I just don't want a huge influx of unskilled migrants coming to this country, flooding our public services, I want us to be able to chose who lives here.

There are bad apples in every party, Just because certain individuals in a party express their views doesn't make that the view of the party or the people who vote for them.

...."I have no problem with a multicultural society, I just don't want a huge influx of unskilled migrants coming to this country"...

I can't honestly see that as any reason to vote Vicious/Bigot/Ukip

So you would rather the EU tell the government we elect what we can and can't do

Its not really like that Zhaine, your personal liberty isnt dictated by europe, its dictated by laws set by parliament and your own moral compass. UKIP is the party of bigots, its been demonstrated over and over again, Farage can only apologise so much for members and Councillors before it becomes the norm.

I quite like the idea that somebody, at least, is keeping an eye, however limited in scope, on the scammers that we are allowed to 'elect' to 'represent' us.

At least that UKIP woman was honest. unlike most other politicians.

She said she had a problem with negroes (her terminology is a bit suspect) but doesn't know why, surely she needs help not ostracising!

There are bigots of all sorts in every party, I have met people who would be labelled racist in both the Labour and Conservative party they are just not honest enough to admit it.

If you read UKIP's immigration policy it is nowhere as extreme as it is made out to be, they are not really against immigration at all!

I would be much tougher on immigration than UKIP would ever be!

I am putting £10.00 on a UKIP/SNP coalition!

What is your issue with immigration ? How does it affect you?

Immigrants are all colours. Not all are Black or Asian.

Remember there are a lot of children of immigrants in Stafford whose parents came over in the war.

Many of these served with distinction in the RAF etc.

It may have escaped you that we have a White Eagle club!

Do you have the same view with Irish ? Are they not immigrants?

Whats your view on Fijians and Nepalese in the British Army?

I thought the programme last night was fairly balanced. The producers must have rubbed their hands with glee by the racist outpouring by that woman but were sympathetic to the press officer and her husband who must have realised it wasn't worth all the hassle and resigned.
What also came across in the programme was the agenda the media have with UKIP. No one run the story of a team of painters and decorators who had been kicked off the job because they were undercut by Bulgarians but seized upon the comments of one councillor who said that racism is being stoked by the policy of mass immigration.

I wonder if a prejudice is genetic or learnt, perhaps a bit of both in varying proportions

The very poisonous Daily Mail . Does it provoke race hate or does it enforce a pre existing hatred

Is there a gene that by its very nature makes certain people hostile to anyone ' different'

Would being undercut by brits be OK?

Studies have shown that where migrants fill in gaps in the skills matrix of the economy it raises income for all of us through increased productivity.

However if the migrants have duplicate skills it reduces wages for the less skilled workers and increases the wealth of those at the top.

UK studies find that immigration has small impact on average wages but more significant impacts along the wage distribution: low-waged workers lose while medium and high-paid workers gain

I would say learnt. Yes from the media but also from peers and life experiences.
Put a group of 4 year old Catholic and Protestant children together in Northern Ireland and they will play together just like all children, but sadly because their parents hold on to their prejudices the children won't have chance to play with each other.
Also going back to the painters and decorators, is it any wonder they feel aggrieved by the ability of employers to replace them with foreign labour. Yes Freedom of Movement works both ways but with comparable countries whilst with disparate countries it is a one way street.

Maybe they should feel aggrieved about the behaviour of their employers, and their government that makes it so easy for them to do it?

So to put it bluntly

1. If you are young person leaving school with no qualifications and you are not willing to do training you are stuffed.
2. If you are an unskilled manual worker with no qualifications and you have completed no training whilst in work you are stuffed.

As a skilled person should I worry?

Well if you're happy for a large portion of your taxes going to pay working tax credits and housing benefit to subsidise the low wage economy then fine, carry on.
