Is the answer 42?
I remember looking at some different forms of voting systems that were proposed by the Labour Party in the late 90's and whilst all had their merits they all had drawbacks and witnessing at counts the difficulty some have with putting one cross in a box my opinion was to keep it as simple as possible.
I believe there is still plenty of merit of having a directly elected MP who represents and is answerable to his or her constituents but the First Past the Post system is unrepresentative of the total votes cast. A recent example of unfair representation was in 1983 when the SDP/Liberal alliance won 25% of the total vote and only won 23 seats whereas Labour won 209 seats with 27%.
The Scottish parliament is made up of both constituency MSPs and MSPs off party lists depending on the share of the vote covering a region. I'm not too sure about having a mixed chamber as there is distinct differences to the type of representation that is expected of the MSPs. Having two chambers can accommodate both types of representation but which chamber would have the ultimate say on matters is another matter.

Have the boundaries changed yet again from the last election?

Speaking with one of my village idiot friends last night and he said they have gone from Stone to Stafford to Stone in successive elections ... ( Ellenhall way )

He also said their alternative candidate to Bill Cash was twelve years of age:rofl:

I thought you had to be 16?

I also propose a salary of £120,000 per annum

I would suggest a salary higher than that AND keeping a decent pension.

But with the restriction that they could receive no other income other than that salary / pension for the rest of their lives. No other paid employment, no share income, no payments for after dinner speeches, etc. Stops any kickbacks / seats on boards / etc for behaviour indulged in while in parliament. Sure they could be given a directorship in a large company, if they were prepared to give their time for free.

But would need something to stop the kickbacks just going to spouses, etc.

All the best

Mandatory prison terms for absolutely any breach of the rules would be high on my list, each rule should have a jail term applied with the more dishonest ones around 10 years (to be served consecutively).

Tories ban control orders supported by Nick Clegg. Now tories are clambering to reintroduce them. How David wishes he did not listen to the Lib Dems.

Although if we're being honest I'm probably best described as a database bloke with strong web skills, not a graphic designer but strong HTML plus javascript/classic ASP for the client/server ends. I also fix/build hardware and have been a sysadmin for a smallish (35 people) company.

Council member looks promising right now, I've mastered the word sorry in advance.

Better still, there will soon be a vacancy for Borough Council Chief Exec, if you think you could survive on only about £100k for a part time job. Just make sure you practise phrases like 'sincere apology', 'time to move on', 'unfortunate misunderstanding', 'robust process' and 'we were unaware'.

You got any more info and detail on the "latest polls" you mention Marwood?

I see a latest poll, (you started) and we (the true representation of Stafford, haa) have Labour ahead, I'm sure your poll has just as enough latestness about it!
