You got any more info and detail on the "latest polls" you mention Marwood?

I see a latest poll, (you started) and we (the true representation of Stafford, haa) have Labour ahead, I'm sure your poll has just as enough latestness about it!
I really don't think that the regular users of this forum could be accused of being a representative cross-section of Stafford as a whole :toot:

Can't believe that there is still a discussion going on about immigration in this country. The people of this country have been duped by the propaganda machine that is the main stream media. The focus of the media is on immigration, benefit claimants, etc, to deflect away from the real issue that is costing the UK, which is the rich and very large corporations not paying tax. We hear very little on this subject, and when we do it soon goes away. This is opposed to, every time we pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV, there is a report, either about immigration or benefits.

If vodafone can avoid billions (over £10bn I believe?) in tax who give a **** about someone claiming a few hundred a month? If starbucks can take tens of millions yet "not make a profit" why do we scrutinise the people earning a few thousand?

Quite simple really, we're not mates with MPs.

The thing is though. The way that the media portray the two cases is totally different. The person on the poverty line who is claiming a few quid extra to feed his wife and kids, is made out too be be a criminal, whereas the multi national company, is treated like normal.

So

Who 'owns' the media? A key question

Unfortunately the internet has not democratised anything

Partly because people are sheep

My quote from somewhere else on here

That is a very simplistic view, it would take more than getting the multinational companies to pay tax to sort this country out!

What is needed is a radical overhaul of the whole country including immigration, benefits, taxation etc to sort the present mess out, but no politician will do it because it would involve unpopular measures which would lose them votes.
