Some of the Coton Fields allotments today at the end closest to Prospect road. I actually tried to get some full video footage but had issue's with the memory card in the camera. Never mind :)

Nixon Garden Neatness
I have an allotment in the Silkmore area, not many of the people on the site are local just one or two. We have BBQs in the summer and a trip out to a garden show, Last year we had a scarecrow competition great fun, we usually do a bonfire night with a Guy Fawkes and another BBQ it's such a great sense of community.

We have all gotten to know each other over the last few years and we all stop for a cuppa and a chat, its a very important part of the growing process. I've planted green manure over the winter for the last two years it really done the soil good, i dug it all in today and I planted broad beans and early dwarf peas. Roll on the spring so i can get my scruffy clothes on and go and play in the soil.

Do Councils have a statutory duty to provide allotments? Yes. If the council believes that there is a demand for allotments; they have a statutory duty to provide a sufficient number of plots. Section 23 of the Small Holdings and Allotments Act 1908.

Thorpe Report which recommends a minimum provision equivalent to 15 per 1,000 households, but this is not legally binding.

That's got GCHQ reading the forum. They probably did anyway as there algorithm machines picked up JM's random comments and thought that it could be some new code.!
Imagine being the poor bastard that has Marwood on his Watch List - he'll never get home in time for Match of the Day, will he...?

Love the aerial shots of the allotments @wmrcomputers

@arthur Our allotments also has bonfire night fireworks and a small bbq and acoustic music get together in the summer; it's truly wonderful for the kids to benefit from this social side. In fact having an allotment is an amazing experience for kids full stop :)

Main crop spuds, what varieties do people recommend please? We're mainly mash and roasties people, not boilers and chippers!
