Afternoon all,

I have an issue with my Astra H (2006) rear door locking wiring. It appears to be a common fault & I believe it is a fairly straight forward fix though my confidence in this is shaky at the best.

Is there someone you great people can recommend to help me out please?

Cheers

The cable usually goes at the top were it hinges from the frame to the boot lid / tail gate depending on the model
Same thing happened on my van tail gate i run a 5 core heat resistance flex cable reason for that its a little more flexible than normal flex and just jointed to the van wiring

cheers,

the issue is with the off side passenger door. It's a common fault with the wire loom on the Astra H. As the wire loom passes through the B pillar and into the base of the door, the constant movement causes the wires to fray and short on each other.

I think that the central locking wires have split and need repairing. I can strip back the loom and gain access to it, but the repair work itself, I'd prefer a qualified auto electrician to do the repair.

Cheers Proactive, I went in spoke to them earlier on....£54per hour for the work, and that's after I've done most of the ball ache stuff for them.

There's Secureacar on Astonfields.http://secureacar.co.uk/gm/5/Home

I have used them in the past without any problems but I believe @Glam may have had problems with them more recently.
I took my little Puma into them to have a new fuel pump, fuel filter and driver door window opener fixed. They managed to fix the window bit fine. The fuel pump died after just 6 weeks. They weren't very happy nor polite when I rang them to complain. When they came to tow the car back to their workshop, it was parked up by the garage on Jerningham St. To cut a massive story short, the boss of Secureacar was heard to say to his employee, by someone very close by, that they must have cocked up the fitting, because the pump shouldn't have broken so soon. A few days later I had cause to ring them again over the doors open light which was stuck on. The lad that answered the phone didn't cover the mouthpiece very well, and when he told his boss who it was and that I had another problem with the car, I heard him give out such a big sigh that I think everyone up Baswich must've heard him. This he denied. But I'm not that daft.
In the end it was fixed, and there has been no problem with the fuel pump since.
I believe that if my car had been the top of the range Aston Martin or similar, they would've fallen over backwards, but, because it's a rusty old S reg Puma they weren't bothered.

Hmmm,

Was it quite a young(ish) lad that spoke with you?

I'll admit, when I was explaining the problem to him he did have an expression of WTF??? I think he just said yes they can fix it just for the hell of it?

Didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

I'd say he was mid 20s??? It's the groan that came out of the boss that pissed me off more tbh. You could always try the garage up Jerningham street? I don't know any others that will do electrical. I ended up taking Percy to the garage up on Tollgate for the petrol tank, loads of welding, few other bits n bobs and the MOT. And, if you book the MOT online, they knock a tenner off it. Nice friendly bunch of blokes too.
Explained everything in my terms. That is, as if they're explaining to a toddler that it's wrong to touch sumat it shouldn't.
