Lol I had to explain what a youth hostel was. She says she will look into it. She likes cooking, especially desserts, most things catering/food service related. Retail type things, animals but she has no qualifications in that area. Children, again no qualifications but she has 3 younger sisters she's helped with including disabled ones. She's fairly good with computers, not bad at typing.

Probably not the type of catering that you or spawn were looking for - but you can almost guarantee a job at McDonalds....long hours & hard work, but if she can stick it - it will look good on her cv ...

Have a visit to the HUB building in East gate street it’s the voluntary action centre - they will know what volunteering posts are available and she could find one to suit her.

Most I know ask for a one day a week commitment anything else is up to the individual and most of them reimburse travel costs it’s a great way to get a job.

I started as a volunteer 14 years ago, I interviewed for a paid post after being there for about a year and got the job because of team fit, there were other candidate for the post just as qualified as me. But the people doing the interview knew me and knew how hard I worked as a volunteer

Being a volunteer gets your foot in the door at many places.

We aren't in Stafford but we will look into the equivalent here.

Sadly they've turned her down at our local one, I think it was just sheer numbers of those applying. She's going to try those a bit further out.

Son and I took the dog for a walk round Cannock Nature reserve then popped into Mill Farm for a carvery.

£4.49 for a carvery, very clean, lovely food.

the Youth Hostel Association also takes on volunteers in great numbers, and many of their opportunities are residential and offer full board. Though as with e NT, it's mid-season and she may be too late for this summer. But still worth a try.

+1 for this

Although it is late in the season you do get people dropping out and places do come up. I worked for the YHA for many years - it's a great job, very varied, catering ability will be valued highly and of course accommodation is provided.

When I was without bin I went up and down the street popping it in the neighbours bins after they had put them out. I got some strange looks lol.

Cancelled next weeks plans for a UK holiday...booked up a holiday abroad for a few weeks time instead.

Holiday booked , carpark booked, currency ordered and been up and down stairs about a million times to print everything off . Never thought to bring the temperamental printer downstairs, or take the temperamental laptop upstairs......

Part one of moving my daughter out tomorrow, it will involve fridge moving and stuff moving, how does a young woman accumulate so much stuff? Other part of it is finding a charity shop that will want a big box of things.

I wanted to do that but thought I might get spotted, carrying is still a bit of an effort but now I regret it..I have bin envy everywhere I look.

My day had been blighted by aggressive Mercedes drivers....are they the new Per-twat (Passat) drivers?!

On a brighter note, I bought a garment that appears to just be some sleeves in Cannock .....& I have new shiny hedge-trimners - although I can see me taking them back tomorrow - 3 - 5 hrs for them to charge up? Ill of lost the will to cut it by the time they're ready!

I've just spent a good 5 - 10 minutes telling off the smallest child for suddenly bellowing 'I HATE gypsies'! while we were watching tv......I explained that as she doesn't know any & they haven't done anything to her that she shouldn't just come out with such rubbish...

....when I had finished my moan at her she said.....

...... 'Twix's mum, I said Twix's'!
