Public loos.

Are the Public able to use the Toilet Facilities in Staffordshire Place & SBC?
Apart from the remaining three in the town (if we include the Castle and the lorry park's paid facilities), access to any other toilets is at the discretion of the operator.

Park, guildhall are 2 that crop up immediately before using supermarkets. If people in town don't use those more central facilities then who would walk further to north walls which must be used because people park there, which they won't be able to do anyway.

Not sure what the events query is but the year the christmas lights were switched on ( year tree in square came down) the toilets on north walls were closed to flooding ( burst pipe). Light switch on went fine from what I remember without the event being shut down.

Where there's a blame there's a drain

Perhaps SBC should install some of these?

interesting, so why are SBC citing the costs of hiring portable toilets as a reason to cancel this years Santa Dash? (among other excuses)

Local authorities will all be focused on what services they are legally obliged to provide

Central Government are the people who have essentially forced this

Gideon's wonder announcement yesterday simply assured the richest local authorities will get richer whilst the poorer get poorer

The Conservative voters did this

Enjoying a drop of red.
SBC have stated they cannot put on a Town Centre Event due to the cost of hiring Portable Loos, so it's not a question of people 'going into town to use a loo' rather than 'not being able too when in town'

A policy which is basically inviting people to piss off and spend their money in another town.

Technically, there are some at the lorry park - 50p admission.

..and the Castle.
Technically, the toilets in the High House are also public conveniences, given that it is a SBC run facility, open to the public, with no entrance fee.

Not the best choice if you're desperate and/or 'challenged' by stairs - *girl's room 1st floor, boy's on the 2nd*

Don't you know they need all the money they can to pay for all the new buildings and for the repairs to scaffold towers and not forgetting the old council buildings they moved out from

That's the county council, not the borough council...

Sounds like someone from sbc is talking sh** if such a comment indeed came from them.

the quote I have seen is the loss of sponsership and the cost of road closures the main issues for the drop of santa parade.

I was going to ask the same question. I heard nothing about temporary loos being cause of Santa Dash demise.
I was struggling to follow that thread of how you go from closing a toilet to loss of Santa Dash.
Maybe something for the conspiracy theory thread?

Do the council have any legal obligation to provide public toilets ?
It is a "discretionary service", there is no statutory obligation or standard level of provision.

You're pissing into the wind on this one - although, there have been suggestions that provision, or lack of, is challengeable on equality grounds, though no judgement has been achieved as yet.

Leek does have any that I have ever come across. Might be some in market any in Stafford's market?

So it seems I was talking Crap as it was Chris Lewis, the chairman of Stafford Town Centre Partnership, who told the Newsletter: (Not SBC)
"There's an entry fee for the Dash, but there is also the cost of road closures, the hire of the toilets etc. – it's not an event that can be put on for free and it is not cheap."

But it is SBC allowing our Public Toilets to be Demolished, increasing the costs for Future TC events if Portable Toilets need hiring whenever an Event is held in the Town Centre. So, increasing the Number and Quality of our Town Centre Loos would help reduce future costs of TC events. Possably leading to more Events being held in Town, resulting in an increase in footfall.

But again morrisons if it opens will have public toilets replacing the ones being knocked down for development on a car park which nobody can park on soon. Not sure what the issue is unless are people saying keep the crappy eyesore toilets and sod development improvements and jobs.

plus no doubt the new mall will have public loos as well.
