Round The Horne.

It's a Saturday next year - I don't fancy Cosford at the weekend - so, I may venture to his childhood home in Church Stretton. I went there in 2007 for the centenary, armed with a picture of the back of the house. It took some finding, but my suspicion that it was now 'executive' housing was confirmed by a window cleaner that was working nearby. We really spooked the woman in the Tourist Information Office, who clearly suspected that we were 'up to something'...

Ooh, bold!
Cheers, G.
I don't even know whether it's OK to find Julian and Sandy funny these days. Probably is. On the other hand...Who cares, they are.

Without Julian and Sandy entering the nation's psyche, would the law have changed in the late '60s? If it hadn't changed then, when would it have changed...?

In the final episode, it was revealed that Julian and Sandy were married (and not to each other!) - almost the last thing you hear is Sandy shouting "Show 'em your ring!....."

How most people may remember Ron Moody.

Ron only appeared in the very first series and left largely because he felt that he didn't really understand what was going on. There were attempts to explain that understanding wasn't necessary on his part, but he left to pursue other avenues..

Today and tomorrow for the Lichfield re-enactment shows - I'm sorely tempted to force an entrance tomorrow.

OK, we're dragging ourselves to Lichfield to have a vada at this tonight - it has had some good reviews elsewhere on the tour - we shall see...

Well, I went expecting to be disappointed and came away feeling that it probably can't be done better by anybody that's still alive - the Kenneth Horne character was spot-on, and that's probably the hardest one to get just right.

Well worth doing.

I have never seen quite such a concentration of sticks and wheels - if anybody had set off the fire alarm half of them would still be in there...

I've just been reminded of the excellent piece of seasonal advice.

In this cold weather there's nothing better than rubbing a chapstick along your lips.

The premier National Holiday of the year has arrived - Kenneth Horne's Birthday.

I may defer it until Monday, when all the oiks are locked up again.

Yes, he would have been 99 today. I watched a programme about Kenneth Williams recently that suggested that Kenneth Horne was more of a father to him than the brute who was.
