Your traffic solutions

But you know yourself that isn't true.

You drive to Birmingham when you could go on the train.
But you can't go on the train because someone looked at you oddly once.

Someone didn't just look oddly at me they touched my boob ... how would you feel about that?

I have had much much worse than that to be honest over the course of my lifetime and on more than one occasion, but I wont go into detail here.

I have lived a rich and varied life and sometimes one just chalks things up to experience. You can choose to be a victim or choose to get over it, move on.

So why would someome just touching your boob put you off travelling by train again?

Are you honestly so lacking in life experience to think that EVERY time you go on a train that something bad will happen?

There is no easy solution to traffic problems in Stafford or indeed any other town or city. The amount of vehicles on the roads far exceed the design limits of the roads (if indeed they actually had that much thought put into their design). I don't think anyone 60 years ag would have thought that there would be so many cars, vans and lorries on the road as there are today.

No matter what may be said about cycling, it is not going to alleviate the problems because there is never going to be a sudden mass take up of people riding push bikes.

The same can be said of public transport. It's not convenient, you cannot get exactly where you want with ease. I wasn't able to drive for a month and to get to see a client, I tried to take a bus into town which didn't turn up, so I walked to another bus stop half a mile away and eventually got a bus then I had to wait for another bus out of town to get to the clients. In total, this took an hour and a half. To reach the client by car is a ten minute drive. Public transport is not a viable alternative to a car journey.

Oh God, never trust public transport in Stafford! Get a bike, that way you choose your own times.

I am not lacking in any life experience but I choose not to travel by train when visiting Birmingham.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Public transport will always fail because of the 'public' element to it. I do take the train quite often, but I haven't been on a bus since the mid-80s I don't think. Happy to walk or ride a bike for short distances or where feasible but for longer distances it's the car. Have ridden into work a number of times but it's not really on if you have meetings out and about and there are certain parts of my route into work that scare me silly on a bike.

Why then, when the train is so convenient?

You said that it was because of your "boob experience."

Is there another reason?

I just prefer to drive because I can just put my shopping in the boot of the car instead of carrying it everywhere.

But you originally said that you wouldn't go on the train because of your "experience"

Now you change your story and say that actually it is nothing to do with a man touching your boob, it is to with you carrying your shopping.

It is so hard to keep up with you.

I do not know Katniss in any way shape or form but there seems to be a whole lot of Katniss "hate" over the past few days.... hate maybe being a too strong a word?

Have you read all the threads?

@Katniss is a bit of a mystery and does invite, by the very nature of her replies, a discussion which is what the forum is about.

I personally don't agree with everything that she says, BUT what I DO LIKE ABOUT HER is that she takes it on the chin, and appears to bear no grudges.

She just says what she thinks and appears to be happy to disagree.

And she does it without swearing or losing her temper ( unlike others on here who throw a tantrum and are rude whenever someone disagrees... )

I actualy think that people like @Katniss add much to the forum. It makes it more interesting.

At that time I couldn't as I had just had a minor stroke. I was supposed to be taking it easy but that's difficult when self employed.

But then again, Carole, some people may just not care to interact with bullies who quite obviously bear grudges themselves.
Or with the insufferably smug.
Or with the tediously and pointlessly argumentative.
Or with those who think it's clever to attempt to cause distress by being bitchy to or about people about whom they know sweet FA.
Expression of opinion is one thing and is generally to be encouraged.
But it's always useful to know when to STFA.

Proper cycle paths on every main road in to Stafford, cycle paths that are protected from cars. Priority traffic lights for cyclists. Priority for pedestrian crossings over traffic. Proper enforcement of all traffic legislation. Camera's on traffic lights to catch red light dodgers, fines for stopping in a box, 100% enforced...........would be a start!! Oh, and make buses cheap, £1 for every journey or something!! And bus services in the evenings and weekends, proper bus serivces, not the one an hour attempt that just humours potential customers :D

Yesterday I was shocked to see going down the tixal rd just how many cars were parked half on the rd other half on the cycle path, with one car on the pavement completely covering the cycle path, how the heck do they get away with that, it's not as though you can miss the bright red lane along the road.

I am not going to listen or take advice from someone who, when the mood takes can be one of the nastiest people on the forum. Yes you. @Maryland

If @Katniss is upset or doesn't want to be my sparring partner anymore then she can tell me herself and I will apologise.

I rather thought she enjoyed it but if I have got that wrong then I won't do it anymore.

Cycle paths are not a legal entity or requirement from what I have read. They are only there as a suggestion. Therefore they can be ignored at will.
