Come down to Stafford's only homebrew shop located just a minute away from Asda car park and see our extensive range of fantastic beer kits. The quality these days easily equals or betters commercially produced products you can get in shops and pubs at a fraction of the price.

If you have never tried this absorbing hobby don't worry we can provide you with everything you need to begin with hardly any outlay on equipment. The cost of basic equipment is only around £40.00 or so and that includes your first beer kit that will make 40 pints in about 3 weeks or so.

Got to say I get all my stuff from there, and they have a load of choice,
I am still working my way through the beer making tins, and they have
everything for wine making, once you’ve got the basic kit, 40 pints is just
the price of a new tin and a bag of sugar, probably 30 - 35p a pint.

I dont think ive ever had a homebrew beer that didnt taste like someone had poured a pint and left it in the garden for a month. Never tried homebrew wine though.

My Uncle used to make Damson wine and it was so strong we could only manage a couple of glasses.

Seeing this thread title has just reminded me... a few days ago we took a walk along the canal at Stone. I was amazed to see a "home brew boat". I couldn't tell you any finer details but it appeared to sell all the kit etc and offer advice for beginners. Quite a genius little idea, especially for fellow boat owners.

EDIT:- Just read thread opening post, and I in no way intend to say that they aren't a better option especially with being local. I mearly wanted to point out that it was the last place I'd have expected to see a home brew business.

Myself, I rarely drink. If I made a 40 pint homebrew kit, I'd be amazed if 2 pints of it were drank before it required disposal.

I've got both a St. Peter's and a Cooper's kit to do but can't be arsed at the moment. I've also got dozens of bottles of blackberry, damson and grape (grown in Weston Upon Trent) in the garage that need attending to over the coming months.

I never get the chance to lay down any wines, Its all gone by the year end.
This year I'm going to hide some under all the junk in my shed just to see
what ageing it can do for it

I am not a fan of cider but when I was in Devon couple of years ago we purchased some local scrumpy in a jar .... after a couple of glasses the rest of the night became a blur.

I made some rhubarb wine once - it was vile.

But, I failed to dispose of it.

Out of interest, I tried it again a year later. It was the best thing that I ever made.

I made a quite nice rice and sultana one. The next batch I did I left far too long, so chucked away. I probably shouldn't have.

If anyone does want to get into beer or wine making we've got some kit going spare - @Goldilox can tell you what exactly but it was a hobby he got bored with and now it's gathering dust when we could do with the space - PM me if you're insterested
