Morrisons coming to Stafford?

Probably haven't received their car park opening permit. Possibly due to waiting for the Health & Safety Inspectorate to review it for any trip hazards and wet floors.

News just in: the Lord Mayor of Stafford was due to officially open the car park this weekend, but the Health & Safety Inspectorate denied them a permit due to the height of red tape that was tied to the entrance ready for the Lord Mayor to cut. Apparently it posed a trip hazard.

We don't have a Lord Mayor here

Imposter!

My point is, the car park is ready (from my VERY professional observations and having a GCSE in car park management) so open it (will ya?), i ain't saying for free (though that would be awfully kind) but just for the sakes of the business' in close proximity, of this kerfuffle.

It'd get some coins in the little pockets of the owners, no?
Am i missing sunfink?

What was your point about the Weeping Cross crew again? i may have missed it.

Morrison's car park will be free when it opens.

More likely to be the same as Sainsbury's. The main company Morrisons subcontract to for car parking uses that for all it's sites, which is why most morrisons operate that way in area's where they wish to restrict non-customer parking.

Given it's prime placement, I imagine it will be the same

I don't see why the car park can't be opened. Given all the inconvenience we've had to endure whilst the new developments have been built it'd be nice if we got something back - a couple of hours of free parking!

drove past today work looks to have stalled on the petrol station. they don't seem to be in any rush to open. i do hope the rumors of not opening are unfounded. but when you see what looks from the outside a stalled project and a very quiet morrisons on the subject it does make you wonder

Remember when Asda was built, it was quite a while after it opening that the petrol station was built.

I hope the rumours are true, the saddistic side of me wants those in charge* of allowing to may think twice** about allowing another developnment, in the future.

*probably long gone now, in charge of a council department in Scotland, perhaps.
**they may not have even thought once!

Someone has suggested that the Stafford Tescos is being wound down as they wish to move to a new site. Can't comment on the reliability of the source though.

Who needs a reliable source. An unreliable rumour is good enough. Tesco to move to Morrisons site, Newport Rd store to become Borough Council HQ, shock, horror, probe, etc.

There have been layoffs at the site and pay cuts already, but closing it? , don't see it, there are worse ones in the area which have already had their 24 hour status removed, surely if Stafford was at threat , that'd be the first course of action, n I'm sure it only had a refurb a year ago.
