Stafford litter.

50,000th poster!
I usually pick up the odd can when walking the dog but this morning I went back with the wifes pick up stick thingy to clear up a load of drug paraphernalia from by the kids play park on Prospect rd, on the little bank on ST 16 , about six bare needles and silver spoon things, plus wipes and several gungy bags and drug boxes were scattered all over the entrance, what sort of moron dumps this stuff by a children's play park!

Needles should not really be disposed of in general waste.

I imagine/hope that Street Scene have access to the 'official system' for that sort of specialist waste.

Well done for picking this stuff up. As Gramaisc says, the needles need to go in a 'sharps' box. Not sure where the general public can access one of these...

What do I do if I find broken glass or other sharp items?
When litter is considered dangerous to the public, as in the case of broken glass and sharps (which include, needles and other drug-related items), Streetscene will try to clear it up the same day as it is reported to us.

DO NOT pick it up! You should contact us and we will arrange for its safe disposal. In the case of sharps, if they are on privately owned property, we will still collect them although charges may apply.

To report broken glass or sharps please call 01785 619401 or email us at info@staffordbc.gov.uk.

Having lived just off Prospect Road once, I’m honestly not all that surprised.

I know it’s the cop-out solution, but if you want a nice play park for your kids, don’t use that one. I was never allowed to play in the main park of my home town for the same reason - it was (probably still is) a drug den.

Perfect example just now.

Bloke standing next to the bin outside the Orange shop, finished his fag and, rather than use the stubber and the bin next to him, dropped the dog end on the floor, stood on it and walked off.

Less than a yard from the facilities provided.

Absolutely shocking and disgusting! I hope the people that dumped this are found and prosecuted.
