Riverside development April start

I'm not sure it's a council issue. a lot of the stock on the high street just isn't the right layout. I doubt you'd be happy if they knocked lots of it down...

I'd be ecstatic if they knocked down the guildhall and redevoped it to have the stores that went to in the new centre, Stafford would be buzzing again. And it wouldn't be any more disruptive than the creation of that new place would it? M&S could have the old Co op, once redeveloped, and Primark could have had the old M&S.

Does anyone know when they are supposed to start building the cinema?

What is in the 3 remaining units?

I don't think I have missed anything. I have to say I have noticed a lot of people in Stafford on Sunday.

"Construction of the cinema element of the development is due to start in late spring/early summer 2016."

The old M&S store is smaller than the new Primark.
The old Co-op store is a complete mess and isn't the right shape or layout for a modern store. It would probably cost a lot more to redevelop than a new store plus the current owners (whoever they may be) would have to sell or foot the cost. I doubt they would pay to redevelop it.

The Milletts move into the old Co-op seems to be progressing very slowly.

There have been hints that they will end up moving elsewhere in the end.

Noticed an increasing number of empty units around the town, surely there's now an opportunity for the likes of Stantons, Taylors, Wakefields, Macfisheries, Curtess, Dolcis, Hiltons, Haydens, Jenks, Jeff's, Golden Egg, Victor Value, Azaraways, Bagnalls, Times Furnishings, Briggs and all the other high street names that we have seen shut up shop (no pun intended) to buck the trend and say

" Hey guys, we are open for business".......

Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp, Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp,.......

Do what vegas does, put a couple of slot machines in each empty unit then knock a hole in the wall of each, creating a long winding slot machine lined inside walk through Stafford, you'll be sure to get bored along the way and start gambling. Especially useful when it's raining.

I asked about the move on Saturday and all I got back was were not sure where we are going yet, it's still in negotiation.

I did hear that the co-op building has been sold, apparently to the furniture people in there now, and they are going to refurb shortly.

I noted two hot babes looking lost in Tipping Street the other day so naturally I offered my services

Seems they were out of towners ( I guessed this as they were very clean ) and had been to this new shopping walkway that the forum is obsessed with .

They looked lost because there is apparently no signage indicating new visitors where the rest of the delights of Stafford are like Mr Sizzle, the pound a bag sweet shop and Greggs.

Traders - take note

That move is apparently off and they are looking at alternatives, according to staff.
