Anyone highly recommend a coffee machine?
It HAS to be quiet.
It HAS to be small.

I used to have Dolce Gusto which I loved at the time and think I already mentioned on this thread but now I have a Bosch Tassimo Vivy, small and very, very good. Has a barcode reader and makes the drinks hotter than many other coffee machines.
I've also got a nifty tip to make the capsules better value if you are happy with just a milky, frothy americano rather than the fancy drinks.

Thanks Jade, i was thinking of buying this one, at this price it's not so bad if it turns out to be a little bit rubbish.

That looks a nice one but its not the same as the Dolce gusto I had, so not sure what that is like. In my experience the drinks from dolce gusto came out a bit colder than I like my coffee.
My vivy is fairly quiet, I think but quiet to me may not be the same as quiet to you haha
Last time I was in Tesco they had it in there for about half price, It's normally around £75 though.

I'd like it to be as quiet as a mouse.
I still can't believe how loud still, some appliances can be, you can get quieter cars than most coffee machines! ...i'm going off topic.
Thanks for the help J-c

I think you'll find the louder the machine the better the coffee :)

Sure I read on here someone trained as a barrista say a while ago not to waste money on expensive coffee machines and go for good quality beans, freshly ground and a cafetiere.
Makes sense to me, pre packed pods of processed coffee surely can't be as good as freshly ground.
Tea drinker myself so prepared to be shot down on this one.

I'm a sachet type if the truth be known, the only noise i hear is the boiling of a quiet kettle, for a nice quiet mug of coffee.

That's the exact one I have and that's a really good price. I'd recommend that. Pods are on offer in Asda at the moment 3 for £10. That's just coffee, it doesnt include the milk pods so be careful with that. You should get a voucher code to redeem on the tassimo website with your machine and its worth using that. the pods are the same price on there as in the supermarket - £3.99 each but after that let me know if you want me to tell you my tip for getting them cheaper.

That's your Vivy, excellent!
I checked out some clips on YouTube and the machine sounds quiet enough and it's cheap enough, so, decision made.

Tip for getting them cheaper? you steal them?

haha -NO
Like I said if you aren't bothered about fancy coffee, just frothy coffee - it's not loads cheaper so i wouldnt get too excited lol
the pods that are cappuccino or latte come with 16 in a box which makes 8 drinks as you use a pod of coffee and a pod of milk per drink.
The americano style coffees which make just black coffee come with 16 pods in a box that makes 16 drinks. the milk pods are around 25p a box cheaper than the coffee for 16 pods so buy the americano coffee and a packet of milk and save 25p per every 2 boxes. Like I say its not loads cheaper unless you drink as much coffee as I do! It's still cheaper to buy the 3 for £10 in the supermarket when they have them on offer. It's Asda at the moment but tesco and sainsburys sometimes do as well and I stock up when the offer is on.
Also be aware some of the americano coffee pods are 'small' espresso type drinks and some are bigger drinks and its not always obvious as theres one cafe long which you would expect to be a larger drink but it isn't - it makes a smaller drink!

Take care of the pence and the pounds... ...well, you know the rest.

I know nothing about these pod machines other than they seem to be in every hotel room I stay in on business and the coffee they produce is OK but nothing special. Presumably when you say prices are 3 for £10 you mean three packs of pods rather than three individual pods?

I much prefer a traditional coffee machine with beans etc for taste as well as the coffee making experience but each to their own and the pods are definitely better than the freeze dried Nescafé/Kenco muck.
