repairing old documents

Hello ,i'm doing the family archive stuff and have a birth certificate from 1896 ,my grandads which i would like to get restored ,does anyone know of anywhere local i can get this done,its very fragile ,but such an important document as its unfolded a story.

The best advice for the original certificate is probably leave it alone and use a good quality scan to handle/look at/show people. Keep the original flat in an archival quality folder/envelope. I assume that it is one of the long narrow ones, you can get appropriate polyester or polypropylene pockets or acid free envelopes from Arrowfile or My History on line but they will come in packs of 10. Don't let it anywhere PVC pockets/folders and don't try to repair tears.

Hi yes it is one of the long ones. I won't try to repair myself. But it needs to be done soon. Thanks I'll look into trying to get it done
