VHS Video DVD

Hi
Can anybody recommend a company that can convert VHS to DVD? As OH has 2 VHS videos that need to be converted and she was planning to send them to some online company in Manchester. Cheers.

Am also thinking of doing the same. Have previously used my own Video/DVD/TV thing - eg for the 'Town That Found its Castle' upload - that will dub from video to dvd, but i'd prefer a better quality recording for the thing i have in mind. Also, said machine was this close to munching the tape to oblivion the last time i tried it - thank the stars i was on hand to save it.

Reviews would be welcome re quality of recording.

I've only used it for that one case above, where I couldn't even project the film without access to a projector of a type that I've never even seen. It was actually quite well done, with one issue, that was not of great consequence in the end - the film was rather elderly and was made in the style of the times, with "statements" being made via placards intervening in between the scenes - these were rendered as single frames and were impossible to read as a result. I imagine that the film had some sort of marker that paused the projector at these points. Other than that small aspect, the quality was spot-on.

That's another issue i have - is it separated into 'chapters', and if so are these decided upon by the person making the recording, or is it possible to sit in on the process and have them inserted at points of your choosing?

Evidently not in your experience - anyone else?

I would suggest a stroll into the shop - I have tagged them above, so they may respond at some point, but they aren't daily contributors here. I have always found them to be fully conversant with whatever it is that I'm trying to ask them,,,

In my case, the transfer was not done 'on-site' for technical reasons, maybe VHS transfers are, though.

Indeed.

It's one of those things i have been putting off - it takes a thread like this to be the proverbial boot to the backside. Still interested to hear others experiences in this field to get some sort of 'handle' upon it.

I have found them, in all my dealings with them thus far, to be very amenable.
