Yes tgat the one .I think his mum worked there as well .
Being young children, as we were when Stan and dad first met, we didn't understand why he was as he was. Mum said he had had problems when his mum died and it affected his mind. It was a real shame, he was such a nice man.

Some time in what must have been the 70's, there were a team of Police divers (or 'Frogmen' as they were then known, is that word still in use?) searching the river from the bridge downstream for...

For what? Can anybody remember what they were looking for? Does anybody know the what and wherefore of it?
In an effort to 'hoik' this over onto a new page, is there anybody that can shed some light on this?

In memory, which is more than like a fevered imagination, they were looking for a discarded weapon of some sort - one that had been used in a...

Murder? Malicious Wounding? What?

I can't, shurely, be the only one who remembers this?

May not be the same thing but I believe in about 1980 Phillip Gollins from Holmcroft Middle School was playing jumping off one of the bridges by Tesco into the river but got caught up in reeds and lost his life - perhaps it was that?

I am told that Julian Caruso has died today.

One of Stafford's most positive characters, without a doubt,

He may never have had a negative thought in his life, even when faced with his recent health problems.

Blimey!

I lost contact with him some 35+ years ago.....

I've never actually met him, but he was very much "about the place" for a lot of the '70s and '80s.

The Dirty Duck and the Yeoman, particularly, as I remember. Many events, the like of which we may never see again.
