Stafford Half Marathon 2017

As I said earlier, there is no reason whatsoever why they could not run round a field - Rowley park stadium was designed for it, Stafford rangers ground would do, they could have run round the grounds if shugborough had the council not given that away too.

Rowley park was designed for 4000 people running 50+ laps around it all at the same time? Who knew.

Businesses always boom Stafford marathon day, and it does bring in a lot of families from around the country.

Not running it myself this year - didn't have time to train, and haven't done much running since the Amsterdam marathon last year, but I'll be out cheering them on - because these events mean so much to so many people.

Hope any forumites running it this year have a good race day! Best of luck!

It is not just 2 hours disruption though is it. It is at least half a day. I am in effect a prisoner in my own house for that half day. All the roads near me are closed or disrupted. That in addition to just about every road into and out of Stafford already being dug up. And for what? So a crowd of people with too much time on their hands, half of whom don't even live in Stafford, can run round and show off, and our pitiful failing council can rave on yet again about what a wonderful place Stafford is, in the hope of hiding the fact that it is disintegrating day by day.

These lads made an effort to get it over with in just a bit over an hour...

Just done the Fun Run with my 6 year old Granddaughter, drove into town & parked up, drove out again to my daughters, then drove home. Disruption, what disruption?
I ran the Stafford Half 30 years ago, the route went out to Acton Trussel, I much prefer the current route, lots more support and engagement, love it!
Oh, and don't be a prisoner, get out and join in, you might like it!

Jesus, try and live and let live. My road was completely closed, and guess what.............I lived to tell the tale. People were enjoying themselves, you ought to try it one day!

He moans about the Town not attracting visitors & then complains about a bit of inconvenience when visitors come to Town.

Outstanding event today. Really enjoyed getting out there to cheer everyone one. Couldn't quite believe that by the time we'd finished cheering everyone around the 2 mile mark near Rowley Park on Wolverhampton Road, we only just managed to walk into town to see the winners coming in! Those guys were seriously shifting though the miles!

Well not the post accident pb I was hoping for! sub 1.48!
Actually finished in 2 hrs 50 secs
I was inline for it till about half way, but to be honest I was fortunate to finish at all! Staggering along like I had had a skinful of alcohol in the last mile!

so much for a PAPB! Was my slowest time, apart from the year I spent the previous night in A&E, yet still ran despite my wife's advise! then had to drop out at five miles.

This year thought my training had gone well, and had had a consistent period of injury free running. May have gone off too hard, or perhaps I am just getting to be an Old Git, (54 later this month! Ed )

I did it two years ago. This year cheered at the start and then moved up to the top of Sandon Rd. Reminded me of the enjoyment I had 2 years ago and will definitely be signing up for next years.

At least you gave it a go, which is more than I will ever be capable of. Well done for what you achieved xx
