What are we watching on TV?

Ive seen Roots the original and remake both are worth a watch.
As chance would have it, whilst 'channel hopping' earlier, i serendipitously happened upon a re-run of the first episode of the 'original'.

With the remake vividly in mind it was fascinating to watch.

My critical, in the true meaning of the word, head is now buzzing with the differences between the two.

Watching both in conjunction is much more than just 'worth a watch' - it is like watching how one narrative can polarise into two competing narratives. Actually if one were to have one's critical faculties completely about oneself, a significantly important other could be added.

I implore anybody who has not seen either to watch one or the other or both - ideally both so that you can likewise compare and contrast - it will give you either an understanding or a deeper understanding, or even possibly a deeper understanding of a deeper understanding, of a terrible crime of a terrible time that has yet to be fully recompensed.

Having just obtained a Beiderbecke Trilogy on DVD, I shall be indulging in weekly episodes for some time to come.

Which we presume that you have worked out that you can actually watch it before next Thursday. ;);)

Heck, you can watch it all in one day.

Have I spoiled the surprise?
Binge-watching is not for me - the old days of having to mull things over for a week before the next episode made things much better. Some years ago, I watched The Prisoner over 17 weeks and I also, via You Tube, watched all the episodes of Gerry Anderson's marvellous UFO series weekly. I did the same with Private Schulz.

I was going to schedule Bix for Saturday nights, but Thursdays are nights that I am rarely constrained, so I brought the schedule forward.

I have Reggie Perrin and Boys from the Blackstuff to do yet.
