Getting out of any housing estate onto a well travelled road is hard. It's the same everywhere.
Most housing estates don't empty directly onto a 50 mph road used as a bypass. Only in Stafford!

and plans are in place to drop it to 30mph. utter madness!!

Take a look at Eastern Avenue in Lichfield. Loads more entrances/exits from housing estates than on Beaconside. Most housing estates don't empty directly onto a 50 mph road used as a bypass. Only in Stafford!

if it was a variable speed limit based on traffic volumes/density then I would agree with you but this limit will be enforced 24/7.this road doesn't have a high accident rate so it difficult to argue it would provide a measurable improvement in road safety. it looks to me that the speed limit is being reduced because somebody in an office thought it looked good on paper. It might not be totally bonkers as reducing the speed limit on a congested road will probably improve traffic flow and reduce the queues at the ends. Or it might not
Whilst I don't disagree with you on this, I have to say that during the day many drivers don't do more than 30 on there already so the de facto speed limit is that already.this road doesn't have a high accident rate so it difficult to argue it would provide a measurable improvement in road safety. it looks to me that the speed limit is being reduced because somebody in an office thought it looked good on paper.
Or... As the area noth of the road becomes a built-up residential area, I guess the limit will become 30mph from the A34 to the Barracks. As it will become a residential road and no longer a 'distributor' road.if it was a variable speed limit based on traffic volumes/density then I would agree with you but this limit will be enforced 24/7.this road doesn't have a high accident rate so it difficult to argue it would provide a measurable improvement in road safety. it looks to me that the speed limit is being reduced because somebody in an office thought it looked good on paper.

It's already a 40 limit for 400 yards from the Weston Road roundabout up to a point between Gladstone Way and the little-used southern camp entrance. A few more incidents at Portal Road and Borona Way will probably see that zone extended.Or... Pretty certain that eastern avenue is a 40 no? Or have u been speeding again!
Nothing should ever go faster than a racehorse
Particular aircraft
Just a matter of time, I cannot see it maintaining its current 50 mph speed limit, especially as we now have the Army quarters (as you mention). As for the 40 mph zone, I can see that being reduced due to the volume of school children now crossing the road. It's already a 40 limit for 400 yards from the Weston Road roundabout up to a point between Gladstone Way and the little-used southern camp entrance. Obesity is another issue, the bigger ones can't run as fast as kids used to be able to....the volume of school children
If there is street lighting and when you look down a side street it doesnt say 30, it's 30
