Stafford Dog Boarding kennels

Oh dear.

I agree that the human should be pack leader, I just dont understand why you dont want your dog in the lounge.

You say you dont care about whether I agree with you, and yet you keep trying to justify yourself.

This is a discussion forum and sometimes people have differing opinions.

We should be able to do this without resorting to swearing (even if you try and hide it by putting an asterix in) or by childishly telling someone to "go away" just because they dont share your opinion.

We used to use Chetwynd Firs back when we lived in Stoke as we couldn't kennels in Stoke we were happy with. Stopped using them in the end as they failed to notice our dogs bloodied paws from scratching against the galvanized mesh. For the past 6 years we've used New Farm Building Kennels in Hilderstone and have never had any problems with them.

Holme from home, for us too, we recently left them for a week, the off lead paddock is fab, we paid a bit extra this time for bigger kennels so they could sleep in thier own crates, our girl wasn't so stressed this time, as she has fear aggression, they always run off with the staff and come back happy. We get regular updates and a vid of the free running exercise, wouldn't go anywhere else, they do get booked up though.

So our Lab has now been to Oaklands Kennels and had a good time from what we can tell! The place was very nice and new, tidy and clean with a great area for the dogs to be walked and run about it.

I was very pleased with the price and care he received! He is also booked in for May :)

Anyone wanting to know any more let me know, but good vote here for Oaklands Kennels - http://oaklandsboardingkennels.co.uk/

Glad your dog survived being one of those........."...... poor dogs, in tiny cages , next to each other, night after night" you terribly cruel mean owner ;).

Thanks for the report, I keep meaning to pop up to have a look!

Can you tell me a bit more about your experience of oaklands boarding kennels, I'm thinking of boarding my dogs there in the summer.

Yeah, booking was easy, just emailed them and dealt with Eleanor or Emma - no trouble at all, just organised dates and got a price. Very reasonable, was £100 for 7 nights including food (although we took our own as lab has a silly tummy!)

I had confirmation in the post and asked to provide a cheque for deposit of £20. Did that and had email confirmation when it arrived.

The kennels is at the end of a long gravvelly/farmy road - although whilst we were away they improved the pot holes which was great since my car was happier :)

The kennels were clean and modern, lots of space and a clear outdoor run for the dogs and they were doing this when we arrived to pick up with two Alsatians. I think there was a large indoor space as well. My lab was very happy and had his own bed with him as well for smell etc.

All good though, very happy and Henry is going back in May :)

I use Holme from home, my first choice easily, have done for my last fragile Greyhound and this rescue thug I have now. Personally I'm a 'dog is a dog' person, they aren'tt child substitutes for me, so no worries with mine being in close proximity to other dogs, infact I see it as a positive. Holme from home have wonderful safe paddocks where the dogs get really great off lead exercise. If your dog is freindly they take a group of well suited dogs out to run and play wth each other. Our current dog has a ball and comes home fit as a fiddle :) And they don't have small cages, but large heated kennels with a large individual run, but like I say, mine's a dog, it doesn't need a hotel!!! They are usually fully booked for the school summer hols by Easter so if that's the time you need I suggest booking very soon.

Sandon Rd don't have any exercise area bar a concrete pen, so it depends how you feel about that!

My reserve kennels is Chetwynd Firs near Newport which I was very happy with, but onlead exercise only through lovely woods. Still happy to recommend

I think there may be some confusion with Sandon Road and Beaconside. I have left my dogs at the new one on Sandon Road and they have a large secure area where dogs are exercised or they are walked on leads in the field

This - http://hawthornsboardingkennels.com/ - could be part of the confusion. Hawthorns use both Sandon Road and Beaconside in their address. If you are old enough, that part of Beaconside* was Sandon Road. Their place is the old police station, from when there was real local policing.

For the sake of completeness - http://oaklandsboardingkennels.co.uk/ - uses Sandon Road....

* actually the old bit between the 'new' road and the Tollgate Estate fence. When Beaconside was extended up to the Stone Road, the railway bridge was replaced, next to the old one, which is still there, and the road was slightly re-aligned eastwards, as a consequence. The RAF were still running trains on the spur of the old Uttoxeter line, but only until late '76, I think. The new bridge was a bit of a white elephant, as a result.

There use to be two abandoned old houses next to the bridge, we used to play in as kids, you could also walk down the old railway track to the balancing lakes. I remember that area being much bigger, it was great for making dens, those were the days!

Looking for recommendations for the awesome dog to the left there. I am not going to use HFH, so can anyone suggest somewhere for a timid little dog. I stress, not HFH.

We will most likely get a shedload of different recommendations as usual but I stand by my previous of Chetwynd Firs.
A first class Boarding Kennels and Cattery that take good care of your pet. For Dogs, there is a wood where they are walked, a play area where they can have fun on obstacles and with toys. There is even a separate "Doggy Hotel" where smaller breeds can get really pampered. There is also an excellent on site grooming parlour.
They are quite popular and are frequently fully booked especially around school holidays, but I would recommend you take a look and see what you think.

Glad you liked it.
I just picked up my two boys who were there for the past forrtnight while we melted under the sun in Cyprus. Both appeared to have put on just a little weight LOL so I guess they were spoiled rotten as usual.
