Ah, but it would have been a long way for you to come anyway for a bacon sandwich......or was it the books you were interested in?
It's not necessarily an either/or situation.

Many thanks to @Noah who took the time to pop round and see me this morning with a very generous donation of excellent quality books.
Lovely man...pleasure to meet you.

The collection is coming along, these are some of the books, I've more in the garage and another lady has more in her house.
Next week the village ladies will be busy baking home made cakes.
All welcome to join us on Sat 15th July from 10.00 until 12.00.
Some of the books are in excellent condition and are still on the current best seller list... we expect these to sell quickly so come early to avoid disappointment (and before we run out of bacon baps).

By the way...the wine in the picture is not for sale!

My golf match has been cancelled, I may have to come and add to the unread pile.

What sort of prices will your paperbacks be?

@Lucy

We dithered about this.

Some of the books are current best sellers and in perfect condition.

So for first 20 minutes or half an hour they will be £1 each

Then they'll be 50p each.
If we've got loads left near the end then we'll reduce even more but probably all the best ones will go early on....we'll that depends I suppose on who likes what.

Bacon Baps £1.50, slice of cake £1, tea and coffee 50p.

Really looking forward to seeing you, might you come and say hello?

Will the books be segregated into Food and Non-Food sections?

Yes!!

Not only that but I have had a thouroughly marvellous time categorising everything into genres .... autobiographies, detective fiction, historical, and so on.

Reminds me...at the last booksale the female church warden was helping me to sort out the books...

"Where do these go" she says

I give the books a glance and said " oh that's chick lit, ...over there"

She then wanted to know what that meant so I explained... chick lit... chick literature... ...female books.

So she gets in to the swing of sorting out and then proceeds to talk out loud as she's sorting....

"Marion Keyes .... chick lit.... Clive Cussler..... Dick lit"

She's a dear friend and won't mind me telling you... ..

I'll definitely come for 50p! It's in the diary, I am at the hairdressers at 9 so will pop up afterwards. I will probably be too scared to say hello!

Well come along anyway, and if you spot me and I don't look scary then you can say hello.

Or you can just be anonymous and enjoy the books/bacon/cakes and have a lovely time....

Either way... enjoy...and everyone else too... all welcome to our village coffee morning.

I'm suffering from donator's remorse.

If the 'Standards of Living...' book doesn't sell can i buy it back?

You can have it back at no cost whatsoever. You've been kind enough to donate some books anyway.
I think that I've located it...was it to do with the Middle Ages?
I shall keep it to one side and ensure its safe return at some point.

Is it in the church itself?

It is indeed.

Our church doubles up as a Community Centre.

So tomorrow we will go over to Wendys barn to collect the stuff that we need.... this will consist of table tops that we put across the pews to form a counter for the books.

We've also got small picnic type tables that we put together, which seat 4 people.

We'll place these around at the front of the church near the bit where we will serve the Baps and cakes.
We'll lay the tables nicely with the village gingham table cloths.

We've done it all before for previous village events, the church becomes a community meeting place. It's works really well.

Buyer beware.
If you've ever watched "Vicar of Dibley", then you'll probably realise that it was quite possibly based on the characters in Bednall.

Also if anyone is reading this who might be put off by a church... please come.
EVERYONE welcome.
