Rugby Club progress...

Being a local resident I am still to be convinced on all access and parking issues, so that will have to stay as "pending".
However, Mr Lennon tried to give some assurance, in person on a few points a couple of weeks ago so all I can do is take his word.
The area that the pitches and club are going onto is the highest part of land and also consists of a gravel and sand base, according to surveys, so this should not only help with drainage, but also help avoid flooding if the waters rise. The area it is all being developed on is an area likely to be described as a flooding occurrence of one in over 100 years. Certain parts of the site have already been worked on and this will help preserve some of the wildlife. The car park will also have a camber or gradient that will help the water drain away towards the marsh rather than back towards houses.
I'm note sure if this is in print anywhere but thought I'd share it.

Ah so the crud off the car park, the oil, the petrol and other chemical detritus will drain into the ecolgically fragile marshes. You couldn't make it up :(

You couldn't make it up, and we couldn't stop them. The Club and the Council got their way.

Please note, the views above were given by having a conversation and gathering as much as I could, and not my opinion.
Like my old Late Dad, I try to take a view of, if you want facts, go and talk to somebody who has their own version if you like it or not.

The drainage currently goes to the marshes and the sow.on that car park. Has done for years.

Such things are common practice on this country. Almost as bad as pumping all pur pee and crap onto beaches.

I also suspect that @Gareth is having a 'moment' of claret -y...

A moment i think we can all recognise

In the interests of what some might, possibly reasonably, recognise as Alexie worship, may i refer the Right Honourable Member to the words of Mr. Sayle to 'discourage' hecklers - "I remember when i had my first drink".

If he would like to disprove this theory, and challenge me, let me remind him that i could take double anything he could...

Sorry I may have read this wrong, but pass the proposed site on my way to and from work, and have not seen any sign of work starting, (Not that I want it! :ohno:). Thought it was due to start at the end of May! :?:

I said it would start after the May bank holiday

That is still correct

Yes I know, but I was replying to your bleating about oil, petrol etc run off from the soon to be rugby car park.

Such run off is nothing new to the marshes nor river as this is occuring through localised car parks and roads for years as clearly confirmed just a couple of posts up. It has caused no issues to the marshes so it wouldn't the club.
