Hubby was told by a work colleague that it's serving black country food ,like grey peas (peys):and bacon. Is that correct ?
He wants to go there for his birthday night out ( as well as The Sun & for some reason The Shrew , where he's never been)
No idea on that I'm afraid, there is a proper menu now but don't remember seeing peys.

It's not on the lunchtime menu but don't know if they change it in the evenings.

Lunchtime menu is usual good pub grub fayre by the looks of it but reasonably priced.

Thanks @Thehooperman  Guess he'll be having Steak or Gammon then :) Hope the real ales are as good as he's looking forwards to.

I'm just testing a few out now for you

The Bird has the usual 3 Black Country Ales and then 3 or 4 hand pull real ales and 2 real cider handpulls plus 3 lager taps. So plenty to choose from.

The Shrew do the same 3 Black Country ales and about 10 real ales but no food and not much atmosphere (I think that's extra in the Shrew recently).

Check with the Bird when they are serving food before you go if you want to eat because it's only serving certain times at the moment.

Forgot to add this one. There is only one menu at the moment and it is served as per the following.
Ah thanks . Planning to go on a Saturday , so looks like getting there in the afternoon for the meal and staying for quite a while after :pint:. Might manage a stagger along to The Sun later :pint:

I don't fancy the Shrew myself , so talking him out of that. (Got memories of it many moons ago. Don't know what it it's like now but it was rather rough in those days . )

Will be a let-down after the BiH.

Why not try the Floodgate or Bates Gunshop?

Deffo wouldn't bother with the Shrew. All the atmosphere of a night watching telly with Ant and Dick.
Tried to get in the Floodgate and Gunshop once and they were too packed at the time to get in .

The Shrew's been done out nicely now and the beers good, it's just a bit of a frosty or "can't be bothered" reception from the staff.

You'll certainly get a seat in any case.
