Just packed for Malta, surprised what I can get in! 8 tshirts/boxers/socks, a few pairs of shorts, trousers, a shirt, sandals, my toiletries and a full face mask/snorkel with room to spare!

Yes @tek-monkey have a lovely holiday.
Here are some of my Malta pics from last year. We were there overnight on a cruise ship.

You'll be landing at Luqa.

See if the old RAF MO's place is still there - it is possible that my bloodstains may still be preserved on the ceiling.

Those photos look great Carole, i have never been a holiday type of person and me and the misses have never been abroad in the 27 years we have been together, but we are doling next year and i would rather not go to the normal holiday type places like Spain.

@Darren I adore visiting new places and there is always so much to see. A holiday is what you make it....some people just sit by the pool all day and never leave the hotel, fine if that's what they enjoy but they could be anywhere. We do our fair share of relaxing and chilling out but after a few hours we like to get out and see what's out there.

We get a map, walk loads, hire a car or catch local buses or trains and try and see as much of a country as we can in the time available.

Don't be put of by Spain either.... yes there are some touristy places but a few miles in either direction can bring hidden delights. It's all about exploring.

There is a quote that I love ..... "The world is like a book and those who choose not to travel have only read one page".

Any thoughts on where you might like to go?

For @tek-monkey

In Malta they have "hop on hop off buses"

You buy a daily ticket and the bus goes all round the island. You can get off at a stop, have a look round for a while, get on the next bus, stop somewhere else for a mooch, get on the next bus.

The buses come every half an hour or so and it's a great way to see the Place. I think in Malta there are 2 routes, one that serves the North and another the South.

Have a great time, it's a lovely place.

Actually we've already planned on getting a week pass each, neither of us drive and the roads are apparently rather interesting anyway! It's about 22 euros for a week, yet it costs over £2 for a single from the common to Sainsburys here! I'm also hoping to hire a mountain bike for a day or two and get ariound some of the bits less accessible, gozo is only 7 miles wide so I could probably do the whole coast in a day if I fancied although I'd probably want to stop a lot along the way!

As for Spain, never seen such contrast as last years visit. Most drop offs were in Lloret de Mar, like the arse end of blackpool! We stayed just a few miles up the coast in Tossa de Mar, much better! Some pics here:

Just a thought, but could @Admin move these posts to the holidays thread rather than the cabin bag one?

It appears to have happened.

All of the family are going and my daughter has been on many holidays overseas so she has some suggestions, if im honest a tent in whales would do me but i have been out voted, Malta sounds great but my misses cant walk far and needs the aid of a mobility scooter or wheelchair so it would have to be somewhere that can cater for these things and have paths suitable.

A tent in whales would make for an interesting holiday.

Anyway, for anyone with mobility issues, the best I've come across is Kos town. It's got a long flat promenade and everyone it seems hires a bike and pedals around. Indeed, too many cyclists may be a problem in itself, but check it out on Google Earth, and anywhere else with a decent promenade.

Just got travel insurance for a week for 5 people for £17.26, which I thought was a bargain! Through virgin but via comparethemarket, virgin wanted more than double that if I went direct.

EDIT: And thanks @Admin for moving the posts back to the right thread :)

I've just booked a holiday for us today.

A two week Caribbean cruise leaving Barbados on 30th December.

It was a bit of a bargain from an industry travel site.

We're really excited, it takes in places that we know and love but also other islands that we've not been to before so plenty of exploring to be done.
