Gladman Proposed Development off the Cannock Rd at Acton Hill. via Clr Edgeller

Highways was against this application but after they received the Traffic Assessment they changed their minds and are now in agreement of the development, with that in mind I called a meeting of all Councillors involved.
Myself, Cllr. J Barron Cllr. R Barron Cllr. J Francis and two councillors from South Staffs. Cllr. L Bates Cllr. D Williams.
We met with the Planners this morning to no avail. They firmly believe it will not cause a Highway problem because they believe that this development will only generate 45 extra cars at peak times. Along with everyone else I find this hard to believe, knowing the grid lock in place at peak times.

The two Councillors from South Staffs are now organising a meeting with their Planners to see what if anything can be done.
We are told it will go to Committee on the 19th Dec. but that could change so is not set in stone.

Kind regards Ann

Had a piece of paper shoved through my letterbox this morning ....

On what basis is the opposition predicated?

I bet it's traffic. Is it traffic?

Did no one follow up on the 'gimme' on toxicity? I bet no one followed up on the toxicity.

That was a 'gimme', that was.

So what's the 'beef' of the opposition - beyond the usual 'we just don't 'wanna'-cars-blot-on-the-landscape-we-don't-like-change' and all of those sorts of things?

I was there for the 'Rugby Club/Doxey Marshes' planning meeting, and i wouldn't wish that sort of shizzle on anyone, least of all myself.

Gladman Dev. Outline Application on the A34 has been refused by South Staffs Council at the Planning Meeting tonight.
Ian Henderson spoke very well and did a fantastic job so did South Staffs Cllr. Len Bates.
People from our area filled the Public Gallery in the Council Chamber thank you to everyone that attended.

Great news - good job it was South Staffs Council deciding on this one. I think it would have been different if it was Stafford BC.
