Went down very nicely thank you. And a bit left over for buttys tomorrow. Amazing what you can find in the reduced section in Sainsburys. (Other supermarkets and butchers are available).

sAMMICHES FOR ME TONIGHT, ALL 90% OFF WHEN i WAS PASSING m&s AND i CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO COOK!

EDIT: Or correct my blatant disregard for capital letters.

I had aldi haggis last year and it was awful. They do sometimes have tins of Grant's though, I like that on toast.

Now when I have Grants with my toast people get all judgmental and use words like "anti-social" and "functioning alcoholic"... ;)

Kids were asking this morning if we could go out for tea but as the day has worn on a little, quite frankly I can't be bothered.

I did a sausage casserole for the first time ever last week - how that little beauty has passed me by all my life I have no idea. It wasn't a follow a recipe job, I just had some sausages that needed using and I started bunging stuff in a pan. It was blinkin lovely if I do say so myself, even if smallest child created a drama over the carrot.

This afternoon I'm going for round two and what I have simmering away is currently a vegan masterpiece.

Leeks, carrots (grated this time), green pepper, yellow pepper, onion, potato, red lentils and butterbeans. Pasata and red wine, loads of garlic, basil, paprika, a generous helping of tabasco plus salt and pepper and it smells lovely.

I was seriously debating whether I could actually give up all animal based food, then I opened the oven to turn the sausages and realised I was kidding myself.

Sausages to be thrown in the mix when well browned off then ignored until the small people demand sustenance - cant beat a one pan meal!

I've just been fed by some Romanians - fried eggs, chicken livers, chips, cauliflower cheese and garlic bread - with a sprinkling of home-made cheese of a semi-Parmesan-style nature.

I'll be alright for a bit now...

Enjoying a drop of red.
Mrs p out with the girls tonight, so jr and I will be feasting on steak (avec frites) and mushrooms, followed by home-made rhubarb crumble.

All using ingredients from out of the area and prepared by Chef proactive using the most advanced culinary techniques.

Oh, and there will be wine (for me). In fact, some might have been consumed already...
