I remember waiting for a train on Stafford station once on 2 June, when it was snowing. I remember the day and month well, but couldn't remember the year. That must have been it.

I suppose in the context of a road sign, 'warning' would normally refer to an immediate hazard rather than an event in a fortnight's time?

I don't know if this was the occasion, but someone mentioned at an event I was at yesterday, West Indian cricketer Clive Lloyd's first experience of snow when he played in a game in Buxton presumably one May or June.

My training partner was one of approx 17 that did it. He took it slower than normal but finished in a respectable time.

2nd June 1975 the Derbyshire/Lancashire match that was called off was at Buxton so I guess that this was the Chris Lloyd match. Dickie Bird was one of the umpires, reckoned that it was the only time he had to stop a match because of snow.

Young master Mikinton put in a good effort, beating his target time of 1:40:00 - especially good seeing as how he'd had to drive up this morning for over an hour instead of coming up yesterday.

ETA And it was a good thing his mum hadn't seen film of Callum Hawkins before he ran.

Great to see, as I was riding on the Isabel Trail today that between the cemetery and near Sainsbury's is littered with plastic bottles. Perhaps the organisers could pick up their mess and not be litter leaving scumbags?

I vaguely remember that being a problem in previous years - and one that's not difficult to fix.

Maybe it will be in years to come, when the infrastructure's in place to get something back on the bottle.
