It's exciting.

"How much is that dressy in the window?"

Thanks all.

Wasn't just me, Sarah's mum and step dad have been in pretty much every day too (while I'm at my normal job) and Sarah is there whenever not at the old shop. Anything electrical falls to me though, and anything that needs fixing to a wall! Pretty much just small jobs to do now, quite a few of them but nothing too big. I think the security light out back and the rest of the CCTV is next, plus we've got someone moving into the office space upstairs so need to finish the wiring in there. Not tonight though, I'm having a rest!

If anyone needs a dress pop in and say hello, and @Glam I quite liked the hippos in Fantasia :p

Love the orangey/pinky??? one on the right, shame i'd look like 1 of the dancing hippos from Fantasia in it.
Hope it all goes well Tek. You've done a cracking job xx

I'm very taken with the blue one on the right, I just don't have anywhere to wear it..

(It would match my wedding shoes & fascination I also don't have occasion to wear anywhere)

I like the look of that one as well, although being a short-@rse would need to cut a few foot off the bottom of it.

Well done @tek-monkey , it's looking good. Walking to town in a bit, so will have a look as I pass .

Had a quick look at the window display as I walked past this afternoon (I was like a drowned rat by that time, so didn't dare venture through the door to have a look in and say hello!) .
Actually the shorter cream / lemon coloured one on the right of the doorway looks more my style ......I never go anywhere to wear such a posh dress though! If I ever have the chance to be 'Mother of the Groom' I know where to come for my nice outfit :)

You have done a fantastic job @tek-monkey , it looks very impressive

I will never get the chance to wear anything as lovely as any of them dresses. And I would need a couple of feet chopping off the bottom too,

As I do with White Rose bridal, where I walk past to imagine what those bride have as wedding meals - I look forward to walking past the pretty dresses on a daily basis and wondering what playlist those women listen to as they get ready to go out.

It really is a wonderful job you've done - and timely before prom / wedding season too.

Thanks, although again I feel the need to point out it wasn't just me. Sarahs mum and step dad were there while I was at work, they did more hours than I did.

Playlist may happen soon, once we navigate the monster that is public music performance licensing!

How do I edit this?
Playlist may happen soon, once we navigate the monster that is public music performance licensing!

In fairness to them PRS & PPL have taken steps in recent years to simplify the process and you now only need a single joint license from here to play music in your store. After a quick look at it, I think you're looking at £307.01+VAT for a shop the size of yours. It is worth sorting out as they will charge you extra if you don't have a license before you start playing music.

I imagine you've probably already worked this out, but for everyone else's benefit: PPL collect mechanical royalties for the actual recording used & PRS collect publishing royalties for the composition. If Tek were to put my recording of one of my own songs on his playlist I would get both lots of money. If he were to put my recording of someone else's song on there then I would get the mechanical royalty & the original composer would get the publishing.*

Real life never being quite so simple in reality lots of the money ends up with record labels & publishing companies who are working on the artist's behalf (ha!).

*in theory at any rate - it's worked out on average plays based on surveys of specimen locations so if none of those were playing me I wouldn't get anything

Thanks for that.

I think what annoys me is that what we listen to isn't what most people listen to, so if royalties are distributed based on a sample I'm more than likely paying artists I hate while those I like get nothing. Plus, like you say, an awful lot goes to the record companies anyway not the artists.
