Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

How do you expect them to get round that corner. Reading your snapchats are very important don't you know.

Baswich Lane in 70s was not for the fainthearted. The slope up to the canal bridge was such that, in icy weather, those who 'knew' would leave space for the chap in front to slide back down, if he was baulked at the bridge itself after taking a run at it. That field there would often have tyre-marks in it from run-offs. The bridge at the farm was a popular entry point to the river and the bend before it had two fatalities. The lane up to Tixall Road from the farm used to be virtually single-track and the crossing into Blackheath Lane was a bit entertaining before the visibility was improved and the lights appeared after quite a few collisions there. There was no pedestrian bridge over the railway or the canal, you just had to take a chance on foot against the motor vehicles, as you do now on the two river bridges...

I cycled it to the Poly for a couple of years. I hit the railings at the farm on a frosty evening and nearly went over into the river and I was taken into the field, through the open gate, by a following car. I ended up near where the Mini above is, as a result of avoiding another errant vehicle performing the same stunt, having elected not to use the run-off into the field.

One car went through at the farm and provoked a nighttime underwater search for the occupant, who had actually walked home before the event was discovered. The Jag was visible for many days afterwards.

The fatal crash that I remember was at the intervening bend between the river bridges and had two female fatalities, it would have been in 1975, I think. There is a barrier there now, probably as a result.

Crunches at the canal bridge were common enough to be forgotten almost immediately.

Yeah, that would be the crash my mate was killed in . I know it wasn't too long after we finished school.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a car in that ditch. Before the Armco barriers were put up further along, I used to see cars off the road regularly.

Personally, I'd knock the bridges down and put in something more sensible - perhaps something with two lanes.

And have even MORE traffic going down what is essentially a residential road?

A fine example from the Merc-Benz Stafford dealer (the car was marked as such) today. Coming from the Kingsmead build, he’s in the right hand lane of the two lanes going towards Sainsbury’s. My queue in the left lane towards Stone Road is backed up because Stafford.

Naturally he speeds up his lane and cuts in right at the end in front of a bus.

No smoke without fire, the dealers must be trained in this to then train their customers

Is it? Never knew that.
Here - https://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/sites/default/files/cme/DocMan1/Planning Policy/Conservation/Listed Buildings/Listed-Buildings List.pdf - it's under Hopton and Coton, rather than Baswich.

The only thing wrong with that part of Baswich Lane (well the whole if Baswich Lane really), is people driving like dickheads.
That is the whole problem. It's quite feasible to have cars pass in each direction on the 'bent bridge' by the farm, but few people seem able to cope if you try it...

..and people will cut the corner on the stone bridge exit, leaving three or four feet of their nearside tarmac unused.

I can't help but wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

The speed that people drive down from Porlock Avenue to the Saxonfields roundabout is quite amazing. And the way people drive round the twisty bit is something else.

A silvery estate? I've just been subject to some 'assertive driving' from whoever was driving it today.
