Stafford Cinema - ups & downs.

The only time I ever went to Oswestry, it was shut.
It did have the air of a (damp) set for a spaghetti western.

They probably still speak of the four fez-men who appeared once and were never seen again.

I did get the impression that the cops weren't geared up for gang warfare.

My nice sort of confirmed the above last night, she used to work there prior to the closure, wasn't to sure about the details, but has been in and understands she will get her job back!

It's admirable that they're giving it a go, but I'm a little unsure that Stafford can sustain two cinemas unless they work together and show different films / films at different times.

You don't want two empty cinemas after five years after both fail.

Regardless, I hope the new owners invest some money and tidy the place up, the whole front needs smartening up.

And it needs naming.

I'd be more inclined to use this cinema than the new one proposed at Riverside subject to significant improvements being made internally and externally.

Me too! I love international and independent films. This is so exciting! I won't ever be visiting the new monstrocity to watch vacuous Hollywood films that cater to the masses. But i will go here judging by the Oswestry Kino! :)

If I'm right in thinking the Oswestry one is a new cinema. They would have to spend a shed load of money on the Stafford place and to be honest given the seating layout there I can't imagine what they could do to improve the place enough to make me want to go back....

Lets be realistic

Its a flea pit and will remain so

In Oswestry, Stafford might sèem like the second coming what with its new shopping centre, endless house builds and swanky new theme park

But if they show wall to wall Ealing comedies in the Winter with a Greggs concession-who knows...
