Their website appears to be www.kinokulture.org.uk

No, that's this one:

"The market town has a specialist cinema, Kinoculture, in Arthur Street but not a venue able to show new releases." - but that looks cool

Looks like AJH is a new venture starting up - converting a church in Oswestry and refurbishing ours - Depending on how much money they have to spend you could make something very cool offering something very different from the forthcoming Odeon

There is a hint that it could be a steamier offering..

Really?

I think a mucky cinema would be interesting for Stafford. Unless I have been wandering around with my eyes shut, that particular genre of business, including sex shops, seem to be lacking in the town. I'd rather have a "Private" Shop than another charity shop at least.

Yes what we need most is a red light district with a cinema as the focal point. That'll bring them in from miles around.

As a bonus, the cinema won't need to replace the carpets either as they'll only get sticky again anyway.

Win win all round I say.

Huzzah!

How long have you been here? There was, so I'm told, an outlet for articles of that sort of nature in Gaol Mews at one time.

I believe that it was discussed on here at the time.

I hope your eyesight has not been degrading..?

Didn't there used to be something of a similar bent in Eastgate Street at some point in the late '70s/early '80s?

All close to the masonic temple, coincidentally.
Many years ago, I was walking to a place on Wolverhampton Road, when I saw a bloke exiting the lodge with a briefcase. Just for a laugh, I said "Ah, so you're one!", as he came down the steps.

He scuttled off towards the town and I followed, in the sense that I was going that way anyway. He kept glancing back at me 'following' him and our paths were identical until we got to where I was going, by which time he seemed to be close to calling the cops.

Luckily, this was all well before mobile phones were around...

Lets be realistic

Its a flea pit and will remain so

In Oswestry, Stafford might sèem like the second coming what with its new shopping centre, endless house builds and swanky new theme park

But if they show wall to wall Ealing comedies in the Winter with a Greggs concession-who knows...
I remember coming back from one of my frequent excursions 'elsewhere' to find that the Picture House had gorn. I was quite certain that i could have made it work, but was young&foolish. Actually, working on a 'make-a-living' rather than an 'i'm-gonna-be-rich', basis i think i had a workable plan for it.

If i get even drunker than i now am, i might even reveal my 'business plan' - don't hold your breath, because i can seriously hold my drink.

If i had the same 'give-a-shit' levels now, that's - "wall to wall Ealing comedies" - exactly what i'd be doing.

Stafford is 'grey pound' sensitive - they're the only feckers with 'disposable'.

Tumbling out of the Sun and Floodgate, and further afield if it 'took hold', for a late-night showing of Passport to Pimlico, etc would make much money.

Factor in a regular - once a month? - subtitled sing-along to The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the same Floodgate ethic of JAM today would pay its way.
