Bad accident on the A34 southbound by the lights/turning for Redhill Business park, several ambulance/police vehicles & traffic being diverted through the Redhill filter lane...

Why do the powers at be wait for the entire north end of Stafford to grind to a halt before turning off the Newbold lights, When the seven trent lights are in opperation.
2 sets of temporary traffic lights and alternate single file traffic you can guess that happens with them not being in sync.

There was a sign in place just past the Taylor Wimpey Blockage that said "Four Way Lights", that'll be fun.

It was very useful to receive this information before i set off to work today.

It meant i could practise my smug grin as i sailed past the queues on my bicycle before i encountered them.

It's obviously difficult to ascertain how well it went down on the target audience, because they so badly trailed in my wake.

I'd like to think it received a glowing reception, but one will never know...

Has anyone with 1/2 a brain changed the traffic light priority overnight when the motorway is closed ?
Hell they could even turn them off and let drivers use common sense like we always used to !!
Living on the A449 with trucks 'parked' outside with engines rumbling all night is already wearing thin and this could go on until 2022 on and off :ohno:

Went to a gig in Bilston last night and came home to a closure between 13 and 14 suspect it was purely an overnight closure but worth checking this morning

Was the M6 closed south from 14 to 13 last night? I don't live on the Eccleshall Road but I sure feel sorry for those that do. Seemed to be juggernaught anfter juggernaught speeding in to town all night long even from my house it was shaking the foundations. I can only conclude that the Highways Agency is owned by the company that inflicts this Smart motorway bullsh*t on us all an dis making a tidy profit. As if after 5 years congestion will be reduced. My arse! Only less vehicles will reduce congestion, not 5 years of turmoil for residents while someone makes a shit load of money out of the taxpayer :(

At best it is a short term bodge.

Problem is that we have a pathetically short motorway network by European standards, and nobody will admit the level required.

I can only speak for 13-14 as I live 1/2 mile from 13 and the 'thunderous' trucks were hovering outside most of the night.
Problem is, trucks can only accelerate very slowly, so once a line of trucks get stuck at relatively rapidly changing lights, only a handful get through per light change, and hence they back up on the A449 around Moss Pit and back to Acton Gate as the volume coming off the motorway is 'significant' even at midnight.
If the lights didn't keep changing to prioritise Silkmore Lane / Rickerscote as frequently, or unless there was traffic wanting to turn in or out of the junction, then more trucks could get through, and if similar 'common sense' to traffic control was applied through the town during such times, then there would be much less backlog of traffic and much less disturbance to residents, and much less frustration for the diverted drivers.
Gonna need my house repointing if this vibration continues for 5 years :ohno:
