Stafford Traffic.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Traffic lights on Baswich Lane at the junction with Porlock Avenue causing tailbacks to the double islands, down Baswich Lane to the shops at least, up Porlock Avenue and Bodmin Avenue.

30 minutes to get from Queensway north to Queensway south. Oh, not forgetting a number of arrogant arses jumping lanes for the purpose of jumping back in further down the line.
Oh, again, the idiot in the Jaguar E-Pace MM67 FZN that thought it was perfectly ok to jump from the left (ASDA) lane travelling southbound into the middle lane without any indication. One pap on the horn wasn't enough to inform him he was in the wrong. Neither was a second ashe continued to push me out of my lane. AND, he still had the audacity to shout and argue after he exercised his willy wave-waving "I've got a bigger car than you" right.:grr:

That wasn't a car dude...

I see that the new traffic lights on the bridge by the station are now in operation and working perfectly. They have a Doppler detection arrangement, so, if you approach them and there is no preceding conflicting traffic, they will be green before you get there, avoiding any pointless waits whilst a futile sequence is gone through. A great improvement on the previous situation, without any backward step.

Edit - Sorry, that shouldn't be in Stafford Traffic, obviously, but "working perfectly", "avoiding any pointless waits" and "great improvement" should have alerted you, I suppose.

What is the traffic situation like on the stretch of Beaconside from Common Road to Stone road island nowadays? ( Heading from Astonfields to J14 on a friday lunchtime, but will avoid that route if there are still problems... )

There remains an unnecessary level of obstruction from the utterly incompetent traffic light arrangement, but so many people are avoiding the area that matters are bearable - worth the risk on the odd occasion.

Next week, it is completely shagged, though.

Thanks, will avoid that way then this Friday. Don't want to start our hols with a row when it's my fault for sitting in jams.
Any problems around J14 as well? ..thats my usual choice to nip on the motorway from hubby's works to go south, but wondering whether to head back across town to J13 :hmm:

I think the intended closure dates are over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Just a lane closure on the slip road, no great issues. Not sure what happens after that, I've largely given up on motorways here.

I think Beaconside is closed (except for Ford escorts) around Parkside from Sat to Tues but I'll check the sign next time I drive past.

It seems to vary depending on time of day. It's chocca between Common Road and Stone Road between 15.00 and 16.00 going towards the motorway but then it lightens up.

If you check Google maps or similar before you set off that will give you an idea of the traffic density.

Might I suggest a tranquilliser like they used to give to BA each time he had to get on a plane in The A Team?

Either that or leave him behind, or maybe he could do the driving himself and get stuck in his own jams?

Major traffic chaos on Sandon Bank this morning, caused by this bloke just swanning about in the road. Some people got a bit of a cob on about it and I shall be putting pen to paper drafting a complaint to Highways about it - let me know if you were also involved and wish to be a co-cygnetory.
